Make your popup bkg 350 pixels wide x 250 pixels high.  The "border width" setting specifies how wide your popup bkg border is (in pixels.)  (This is the width of your *border* - not the width of the entire bkg image.)  Fiddle with that to make sure text fits in the popup box.

When you make changes to the INI files on your D: drive, are you remembering to "force reload" from the configuration menu?  Have you done a "select skin" from the main menu to load your skin?

Sounds like you're making things more complicated for yourself than need be.  As the instructions say, all you have to do is create a new directory in the emuskins directory and put your media files in there.  Then load up the emu, choose "select skin" and select that new directory.  Then go to "skin configuration" and set things up how you want.  As a last step, select "overwrite D:\ *.ini...." and it will write a "settings.ini" file into the skin directory that you last selected from "select skin" (which should be the new directory you created.)

Note - if you're running the emu from DVD-R or CDRW media, you obviously cannot expect the "overwrite D:\*.ini files" selection to work....

ok thanks for that, the force reload thing helped.

yeah the popup screen is the ONLY problem, the rest went smooth, kinda-
I remember selecting my other screens and they were shifted over to the left, the only way I could get them right was to load a different skin first, THEN my skin.
I think that's what is happening here because the popup menu is shifted a bit to the left.

anyway i'll get back into it, see if i can get it wink.gif

thanks for the help.

QUOTE
A lot of my regular GB Roms are gzipped, and the emu seems to have a problem with that

Just unzip them and re-zip them with romzipper!
