Linux Server To 360
« on: August 15, 2009, 12:13:00 PM »

I'm thinking I'd like to use a Linux Media Server (uShare?) to serve HD movies to my 360? Is that even possible? easy?

I'm a Linux beginner, but have been frustrated with windows having to transcode HD movies for the 360 losing quality and usually lose 5.1 channel audio as well...

There's a program called Twonkymedia, which I use on my Linux server to stream music and vids to my Xbox. It's not free, but it does give you a 30 day free trial. Works just great for me!

Who says you have to have a Windows Media Centre PC? Pah!  biggrin.gif

I DLed TwonkyMedia Server, set it up (in Windows), and it "sees" the things I can see/play on in Windows Media Player, but cannot see .mkv and some other files, so I think I still needed to transcode to use Twonky?
