Microsoft Addresses 360 Hulu-Support Rumors

Microsoft is keen on providing multimedia internet services on the Xbox 360, but one of the most persistent rumors -- Hulu functionality on the system -- has so far gone unfulfilled. It does sound, however, like the company is considering their options. G4 talked with Microsoft corporate VP John Schappert about the rumors. "I will say that we are always -- I think as evidenced by our partnerships that we've announced -- we're always looking at new opportunities," he said. "We want to offer the best entertainment on Xbox Live in as many countries as we can. But it takes a while to get these deals done... Suffice to say, I don't think the Facebook, Twitter, Skye partnerships are going to be the last ones we're going to announce, but nothing new beyond that."

As much as I'd love for Hulu to be added to the 360, I really don't think it will happen.

Reason I say that is if Hulu was added it would kill the TV/Movie marketplace sales (mostly TV) and even Netflix. Why buy and ep of Family Guy when you can just watch it for free on Hulu..

Well you can wait for MS to cut the red tape and get it done or you can drop $39.99 on PlayOn and get Hulu, YouTube, Porn, Podcasts, etc right now on both the 360 and PS3.

You get a 14 day free trial but after a few days I was sold on it.

Yeah, if they're going to add all that crap, they should just add a frickin real browser and be done with it.

I don't like PlayOn cause it requires you to transcode ever video which requires you to have a pretty nice PC and for that PC to be on when you want to watch something.

At this point, I would agree with that.  I don't think the 360 needs a browser, but I don't think it needs Twitter or Facebook ether.  If you are going to add these, why not just add IE8 (I know, bad joke) and make everyone happy.
