Tversity Or Transcode 360
« on: March 28, 2008, 05:18:00 PM »

I like Tversity myself.  I have used it before, but found the features were too lacking.  Transcode360 would never work for me.

If you content is HD (whether it be Xvid/Divx or x264), you are better off re-encoding to WMV than to transcode during playback.  Plus, you loose FFW and REV during playback.  There are tricks to get REV working, but at a cost of "queuing time."

I agree with Chris, transcoding is fine for low res files, but HD stuff just wont work.... I tried this and the PC just couldn't do it on the fly good enough and it is a core 2 duo with 2 gigs and it just couldn't keep up with the transcoding. you are better off just converting to WMV(only way to go for HD content).

My suggestion would be to purchase a HTPC, and play the files in the format you get them in.

This solves sooo many problems trying to re-encode and playback with the 360, trust me you'll thank me.
