Toshiba Announces Discontinuation of HD DVD Businesses
« Reply #15 on: February 21, 2008, 02:39:00 AM »

That would make absolutely no sense.  LG is the only one that is going to continue making a combo drive, Samsung has already announced that it will pull out of making them.  Furthermore with standalones going as cheap as they are these days it's would be very tough to market the drive at a price where they could market it AND make a profit.  Incidentally for those interested Costco currently has the Toshiba D3 HD-DVD standalone for $80 with the same 7 free HD-DVD movies offer (it is the exact same as the A3 model but comes with an HDMI cable).  Keep in mind that these are also great standard DVD up-conversion players.  Although I would not be surprised to see them for cheaper in March.
