Mpeg-2 Aspect Ratio

I've successfully set up my 360 as a Media Center Extender and got it to recognise an mpeg-2 file that I converted with Videora as 720p. The file plays, but it appears at about half the width.

The MS info about pressing A to change display settings doesn't seem to apply to the Extender playback, so is there any way to fix this?

I've loaded the file in MediaInfo and it confirms that it's 1280x720 and it plays in the correct aspect ratio on the PC.

Or is the best advice to scrap mpeg-2 & MCE and go with something else, like h.264 & Zune or WMP11?
