Will I have 2 separate files after the initial demuxing?  I'm lost...I think...PLEASE HELP

I found what the problem was. I didn't match up the frame-rate correctly, I was just a tiny bit, but that is why it sounded worse near the completion of the video.

As for WMP11 or Zune, it wouldn't accept the MP4 file, but it did accept the wmv.

If you have two files after a demux then one should be video and one should be audio.

"Start Muxing" would be used to mux the files together (put two files into one). "Demux" would be to separate two (or more) files. If you are hitting "Start muxing" then you are doing the opposite of what you should be. Hope this helps!

I tried the method of the original poster, but I couldn't get it to work. The files played fine on the pc, but on the xbox, they would have sound only.  

Anyway, I found a program called GOTSent that sounds like it does essentially the same thing, but it is automated, and it worked for me.

I had an audio sync issue also where about halfway through the sync would start to go noticeably off.  By the end, the sync was so off that the character's lips stopped moving before the audio played.  I typed in the frame rate as 23.98 in Yamb, i'll try the more accurate 23.976 to see if that helps issues.

I should also add that the PQ from this method is SPECTACULAR.  MUCH MUCH better than the mkv --> wmv guide sticked above.  No more 18 hour encode times for me (only a celery laptop here) assuming I get the audio issue fixed.

Try using the exact framerate of 23.976 and see if it works (like you said). If not I would try a different encoder. If that doesn;t work you might just be out of luck. I've had this happen only once and it was do to a problem with the video in the original mkv. It played fine on the pc but there was a skip in the video and when i extracted / converted the audio it put it out of sync. There was no way around this. But even converting it to wmv was no help. I've also seen issues where the video is encoded at 23.976 fps but the audio is at 25 fps. This too will cause it to go out of sync. In this case you would need something such as besweet to fix the audio.

3. Using h264info change the level of the video (the .h264 file) to 4.1 (This will not re-encode the video so it will only take a few minutes to re-write). Make sure that the output filename is different than the input or it will fail.

been trying for days now to get  h264 files to play on my 360 and this sems the best option for me
got to this so far but well and truly stuck
what am i doing wrong ?
i have gone to http://www.h264info.com/downloads.html and downloaded a file x264.exe which is 939k
tried to run it just get a quick flash of a dos promt box then nothing.
how do i get to open the video file to change the video to 4.1 ?

You're downloading the wrong file... go to https://sourceforge....cts/batchccews/  

Click on Download BatchCCEWS and then you will see a link to download h264info.

Newbie needs help!

I'm working with an mkv file with 1080p h.264 video at around 11Mbps and DTS 6 channel audio.  I followed this tutorial the best I could and used a guide from http://dtsguide.de.vu/ to convert the DTS file to 2 channel AAC (LC).  I was never able to create a working mp4.

I'm wondering how I can see what level the video is at? Maybe the program didn't convert it to 4.1.  I don't know how to tell.  Any help or comments please?

Don't know if this will help, but he describes it a little better and provides h264info results.  I will try that when I get home, but I still don't see where it tells you the level of the video.

The bitrate of your file is too high.... this could be the cause....

Sorry for the confusion.  The source file was around 11-12 Mbps.  The mp4 file I made with GOTSent set the video stream to 10Mbps.  I just installed MediaInfo.  Here's the output from the mp4...

I still can't tell if the video is encoded at level 4.1 or 5.1.  How can I get that info?
