Transcode Mkv To Wmv, I Can't Get It To Work

Has anyone successfully transcoded a MKV movie to a WMV? I have some 720p stuff that i wanna watch, and TVesrsity can't stream it.
I tried AutoMKV, but for some reason i am getting no sound on the final movie.

Any help is appreciated.

try using river past video cleaner pro. converts mkv files....just takes a while!

well, it depends on what's in your mkv. if you've got vc-1 video and wma audio, haali's media splitter and solveigs asf multiplexer should be successful in graphedit. chances are you won't be that lucky tho - what's inside your mkv? if you don't have any good utils for determining, try mediainfo...unless river past worked for you. let us know either way.

just for your info. I recoded an mkv of criminal minds. running fine on xbox thru wmc and wm11. recoded on standard settings. it took 7 hours to recode! but its watchable and has working sound.

uses river past video cleaner pro.

i'll try mediainfo first to see if it leads me anywhere
it's a 720p MKV file, so XBOX Media Center can't play it and TVersity can't transcode it fast enough i guess.
That's why i want to convert it to WMV.

if not, i'll try the river past video cleaner, i see they have a trial for download.

I've had GREAT results going from MKV to WMV using Encode360 VBS Script It's not the most user-friendly way of doing things... but it works GRRREAT! (takes me about 13 hours for a 2 hour movie running an x2 3800+ and 1 gig of ram)  Read through the forum post to see how it works.

Another solution is Encode360. It's a features a really nice UI using the same basic script listed above.

Both solutions offer the option of converting using wmv8, wmv9, and wvc-1 (the best quality) encoding. They both output wmv files that I've been able to view using a dual-layer dvd disc and the 360 dashboard. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Try a MKV converter to convert MKV file to WMV.
