Wvc1 And Avc Support : When?

Given MS will be releasing their HD-DVD drive, does anyone know when WVC1 and AVC decoding will be supported?

I tried to encode a WMV9-AP based bit of footage but it would not decode over Vista RC1 on media centre extender 360.
