360 Won't Play Dvd-r's

My unit works great otherwise but simply refuses to play ANY DVD-R's, tried several different brands from cheap to expensive, I've tried DVD-R's that were burned by other people and other software with no luck. My 360 simply refuses to play DVD-R's. Anyone else see this? Also any way a DVD drive firmware update might allow it to read more formats? Anyone working on replacing the DVD drive in the 360 with a better faster one?

I play DVD-r's with no problem. What brand are you using, I've played Sony's and Imations

I pretty much always use sony because I found that useful when I was working with xbox 1 modding. Song's work for me also , they also come in cool colors if your into orgrnation. I waited in line at Besy Busy on the 17th, becuase I knew when they were going to be recieveing there xbox, but mine is selling right now on ebay for 1400. I think xbox 360's are more of an investment I can wait until the 20 - 30 not telling but targets and walmarts should be getting some in from what I can tell ya.

No brand of DVD-R works, Sony, Maxxell, Imation, Memorex gets rejected, even ones that I have not burned myself and ones from a stand alone burner did not work. Oddly a DVD-RW worked. Seems my 360 just outright rejects any DVD-R's no matter what. Anyone working on a faster better DVD Drive replacement for the 360?

Have you tried dvdr's burnt from somewhere else? I had a similar problem where nothing I burnt from my pc played in my friends xbox1 but he later tried some burns himself and they worked fine.

Make sure to burn 'em slow. 4x at max i'd say, just to be safe.

Mine plays Toyo Yuden 4x and 8x -R's fine. Also some older movies on Staples and Compusa housebrand -R media play just as well. Burned mainly with dvd decrypter and dvd shrink. Mostly burned at 4x, some at 8x.
