Harmony 360 Vs Harmony 880
« on: December 14, 2005, 06:18:00 PM »

Hey guys, I need a univ. remote for my Home Theater, and was just wondering what you guys think of these 2 remotes.
360:
I have heard it is slow, but not too moticeable that it matters:
How many devices are you able to program (like a macro)? I know the 880 lets you set up 8 devices: DVD, TV, Game, VCR, PVR, Radio, Music, Pictures.
From what I have seen the 360 version can do: Xbox, DVD, TV, Media Center. Does it let you program anything else?
How many devices can you control total? Answer: 12

880:
Lets you set up 8 devices to be programmed.
Looks like you can control a total of 15 devices.

Prices:
360 = $130 Best buy
880 = $150 or so ebay

What are your opinions on these two remotes guys, thanks for the help.

Harmony 360 Vs Harmony 880

The 360 remote is basically a redesigned 520. Check out remotecentral on reviews of the 520 vs the 880.

The 520/360 only has a half meg of memory vs the 2megs that the other harmony (but this should only matter if you want to use tv guide info on your remotes). The 360 can also control up to 12 devices.

Both have their positives and negatives. Another Harmony remote to consider is the 659 which can be had for $60 online refurb or $99 new at costco. The 360 can be had for around $90 now online also if you look around.

I ordered the 360 for $90 and theres supposed to be a $30 rebate if I bought a 360. I'll see if I qualify later and can get this thing for $60. It should be here sometime next week. I have a HDTV, Audio Receiver, HDTivo, DVD Player, XBOX 360, and XBOX with XBMC, that I want to control with the Harmony 360 remote. I'll let you know how it turns out later.
