I susbscribed to usenetserver.com for the last three months and my account has recently expired.  I wasn't exactly thrilled with the service, retention up and down, same with completion.  Just wondering if anyone has used any others like easynews or terranews.  I wanna pay about 15-20 USD / month.  Anyone have any experiences, good or bad, to help me choose?

I reccommend Agent. I have used it for a long time now and never had any problems with it.

EasyNews (nntp and Web-Based) and News2Me (web-based only) are the two I use.


News2Me is $10 for 50GB/Month, but I've been over that more often than not lately, with no additional charges.

Web-based is great - News2Me has global binaries searching, making it a snap to find EXACTLY what you need, and I've got a handly little app that lists the binary links on a web page into a list box, allowing me to select them and generate a GetRight download manager queue file. Takes me only a few minutes to get several gigabytes of files, from across many newsgroups, downloading to my system.

News2Me eh? Ive never heard of that one. I havent used a web based server so Im a little iffy on that.  50gig per month is plenty.  I was checking out easynews website (which sucks btw) and I like that they have specialized servers. What is this app that lets you queue up the files from the web? Ive been using Grabbit, I know it sucks but I find it shit easy to use and configure.

WTF are you smoking?

Getting your Linux distro, homebrew or game previews over usenet takes a lot of bandwdth. Nobody here has mentioned pirate releases or specific groups.

i would suggest xnews, it is small and quick cause it doesnt load a uncha crap youll never use
