Direct Ip Connect

hey. im a n00b with tunneling, what id like to know is, is there a program which lets u direct connect to an ip.. like i wanna play my mate, without using the xkink etc servers (i am in australia), is there any software available to do this, or is there any progs. which let me make a server for us to play on?
