Cannot Detect Dns!?
« on: July 14, 2003, 06:45:00 AM »

I started getting this too.  All you have to do is go to your DNS settings and change it to "manual," then put in your DNS addresses that your ISP gave you when you setup your internet account.  It should connect after that.  Mine does.  The complaint I have is that after I turn off my Xbox, and turn it on later, it forgets the DNS numbers I put in, and I have to do it all over again just to connect.   Aaargh.

Thanks for replying, I'll try doing that and hope it works. Isn't it 255.255.255.0 usually?

No, that's your subnet mask.  You should have 2 DNS numbers, one primary and one alternate.  There's a place for each of those in your settings.  Just check your internet settings on your pc and use the DNS from there.  If it's set to "automatically detect" on your PC, call your ISP and tell them what you need.  They should be able to give you the numbers.

Sweet I found them:

DNS Servers: 65.32.2.136, 65.32.1.65

Gonna perm set them on my router and see if xbox can pick them up from that, if not ill do it in the xbox like you said.
