Never heard people reference them as such.
It's always v1-v7 (gap/nogap)

Never heard of it either. Unless you are referring to B-stock which generally means that it is a refurbished or returned unit. I only know of a version 1-7 (the only letter designation being given to the SCPH30001R PS2 which contains V5, V6 PS2s I believe).
