File In Use By Another Program
« on: March 22, 2003, 12:11:00 PM »

I am trying to simply rename some files. I am not running Kazaa, or any other program that I know is in use. I have even tried to reboot, and then without starting any programs, I try to rename...again no luck.

The only programs that I have auto-start with Windows is AOL IM, VNC, Norton Antivirus, and Relax for xbmp.

I am running Windows XP Service Pack 1.

Any ideas on why this is happening? BTW, the files have spaces in them and DOS doesn't let me rename. I know I can make a copy of the file and rename that one, and just delete the directory where the troubled file is in DOS, but I want to know why this is happening.

I ofter set my folder view as "view as list", and I remember that sometimes having the thumb showing up in "details"on the left was causing me that kind of trouble.. Might not be it for you though.

HEHE, are these files currently allocated as shared folders/files for RELAX (XBMP accessable).

You will have to disable Relax as a service before you can fark with those files.

Control Panel> Administrative tools > Services > RelaX  (right click and choose STOP! )
