I have a couple of games which have this file in them once you extract the iso. Games include toejam and earl and unreal. I haven't put them on my harddisk yet coz i'm worried it'll mess it up somehow. Yes, I'm very paranoid. I know it has something to do with Xbox live games, but could someone please explain it in detail to me.

just don't press update or xbl when play these games, u can delete the files if u want but really won't do anythink unless u press it playing the game!!

the files were update.xbe, dashupdate.xbe, and downloader.xbe, they can be deleted but they won't do anything playing off the hd unless you press the option while playing the game!! search for a thread like this, opjose explained in detail.

When i backup these disks I remove the files. This has no adverse effect on gameplay and if you want to know why you should do this, all you have to do is read the number of posts where someones friend or little brother updated their box while they were out of the room.

lol, i remember that, definitely delete it but if u leave it on there it won't effect anything, actually mines is still on there for splinter cell.

take them off just in case.

i hit one, one time playing unreal(no idea why) but anyway it started changing my dash and when i figured it out i turned it off.....just had to put my evox cd back in and redo it.

doesn't matter with normal dash, and splinter cell has 3 files
1) update.xbe
2)dashupdate.xbe
and
3)downloader.xbe

they all can be deleted with no missing shit from the game!!

i put unreal on my xbox, and with boxplorer, i was trying to delete
dashupdate.xbe but i accidently opened the file and it started to
install XBlive stuff. while it was installing, i shut my xbox down,
turned it back on, and there were a lot of files added in my c:
folder. i deleted them, and my xbox is still fine.

that was close. i wonder if it would do anything if i had installed it.
i flashed my tsop with enigma chip and i have the ybox bios. you think
i can get online? (oh, i'm gonna lock my drive soon)

u can always just back up your c: drive easily so it's really no real bad thing.

just for the people who forget to backup there c: then their fucked!!
