Depressed Chiefs Fan...
« on: September 22, 2004, 06:56:00 PM »

I live in Kansas City so the only form of sports entertainment (after the disgusting season of the royals) is good old Cheifs football.  However, 2 games into the season we are 0-2, priest is out with an ankle injury for a game or so, kennison is questionable with a strained hammy, overall we have 6 starters out due to injury.

WHAT HAPPENED...we were supposed to be a strong superbowl contender...i went to the game against the Panthers and was dismayed to find that the stadium was almost EMPTY by the end because we were losing...

so what do you all think, can we pull it off? will we be able to pull what new england did in '01 and win the superbowl after an 0-2 loss, will our offense finally get into a rhythm, and will our defense stop playing like a bunch of little girls and learn how to tackle?

or am i the only KC fan here...

short answer - if they start playing every game as if it's a playoff game, they may be able to pull it off, but I didn't like how they played their last game (which is the only one I saw of them so far).

shorter answer - NO, they can't

alright...0-3...not good, BUT we actually played a much better game than we did last week.

defense did very well except for a few big passing plays and offense had a great game except for one damn interception

still have a chance? or are we out? lets not forget that afc west is a pretty weak division right now except for the broncos who are 1-1

Chiefs got a WIN.. they looked pretty good last night.

Maybe they can squeeze in the playoffs with a wildcard..

vermiel just needs to get 2 more wins to get back to .500

These early round losses are a good omen.  Now the Chiefs can dominate the rest of their games and the press wont jump on their bandwagon.  It seems every time teh chiefs play well during the season, they muck it up in the playoffs eg their two 13-3 seasons. My prediction: The chiefs will be the wildcard dark horse this year in the playoffs and make it past their first game.

 screw that

chiefs are on a roll. First they beat the shit out of the Falcons. Today they beat (not real bad) the Colts. and the Broncos lost, so it looks like the Chiefs have a chance at making the playoffs

if they dont, they still have the best running back in the league.

What the hell are you talking about? What about Steve Young! Didn't he bring two or three trophies to the bay area? dry.gif

EDIT:
I guess I will answer your original question.

On paper the Chiefs have a good team but all the injuries are killing you. You might be able to make a run at the playoffs but it's a long shot.

i am looking at the Chiefs injury report right now and there is:
  • one out
  • one doubtful
  • 3 questionable
  • 9 probably, but most of them are playing

and the people they are missing are not their best ( see Holmes, Gonzalez, Green, the offensive line, etc) and they have been doing fine without them. (better actually)
