The re deployment of British troops south west of Baghdad is a more obvious election tatic by Bush and his cronies, thats if the commons vote's in favour of it.

im just saying its a pretty big clue... has this happened during any other election? maybe ive got an inside look as ive lived in england and still talk to many of my friends over there, but by talking to the people, england isnt exactly waht id call a strong* ally right now...

*as in 100% behind us, nothing to do with military or money...

Not sure we have any strong* allies anymore.
Gc what part of England did you live in?
I was born in Bridgend, Wales. About an .5 - 1.5 hours away from Cardiff(been awhile).

More influence from other countries.  Russia's Putin is now backing Bush.

I think im following you. Where about in Liverpool did you live?
I have lived in Sheffield for the last 5 years but was born in Liverpool and im moving back there in a couple of months. Ive even been on day trips to Wales wink.gif

Come on the Guardian may be left wing but so is most of this country. I think its funny. I buy the Guardian (alternate between a few newspapers), and it wasnt the most sensible thing to do but so what.
I was watching a news program this morning and they had a poll to see if the public supported the sending of more troops. 8000 people rang up and 86% did not want to send more troops.

Whats more disturbing is the quote from the bottom of the page of the link.

I cant see why anyone in Britain would be offended by this......

The US and Britain have very different ways of dealing with hostile situations.  The US steams in flattening anything it's path where as the brits think about what they are getting into before going off on a crusade of the just and righteous.

A good example was when a Iraqi threatened british troops with a AK, Us soldiers would have shot him dead.  The British troops steamed him with battons and gave him a good kicking.

If you want to debate past war crimes go ahead and make another thread but at present it is world wide known fact that the US is being very heavy handed in Iraq to say the least.
