Is it possible to patch the Retail (through HDD uploading or custom ISO burning, or defualt.xbe) to work offline without XBL?

As no - one around me has an Xbox, XBLgamertag copying  is quite out of the question.
I can't even find fake gamertag files on the net to download.

I got the Xboxsave files (the offline PPFs) but they don't work with the default.xbes. I am in the process of trying custom ISOs, but I heard that it doesn't work either.

And I can't for the love of me find a default.xbe and I have also heard there is a problem with the split screen on that one.

I am at the end of my rope: Is it POSSIBLE? Has someone with Retail and no XBL access (your friend or your own GT) been able to play this game offline? Remember with Retail.
