Using Http Api To Update Settings

Im trying to use the HTTP API command SETGUIsettings to change and update the led color on the front of the box. using

/xbmcCmds/xbmcHttp?command=SetGUISetting&parameter=0;system.ledcolour; & NumericUpDown1.Value)
 
i can change the color setting, but it does not update the led color. if i play then stop a file, restart  the xbox or anything else that forces it to recheck the color, then it changes to the correct color. So i am looking for a simple method the send that causes xbmc to update its state with those in the settings...thanks in advance
