My point is that if the content is created under optimum conditions, with professional equipment that does not have these consumer level features, then why would you want to have these features in your home? No interlaced flicker, through a well calibrated display is ever as bad as the issues that 100Hz scanning and digital processing create.

Well I'll give you another reason then. Some people just cant tolerate
that low of a refresh rate. Low refresh rates cause eye strain and
headaches for many people, including myself. Some people prefer to
live with the un-wanted side effects of 100hz scanning than 50hz
flickering. And like I said before, most of the better ones now deal very
nicely with post processing. And there you go again, using that phrase:
"well calibrated display". How many of us actually have well calibrated
displays in our home, or know the proper way to calibrate a TV? Probably
not many, unless your a HT enthusiast. I dont know about PAL, but
there are no NTSC sets that come out of the box properly calibrated to
the NTSC standard. But anyway, like you said its whatever makes you
happy.   <
