Halo 2 - Two Files Corrupt Indefinately
« on: February 12, 2005, 09:34:00 PM »

Hey there, I made a back up of my HALO2 onto my HD so that I can play the heck out of it and not have it ruined.  But it seems it has already happened.  My disc SOMEHOW got scratched toward the outer edge of the disc where the first part of the game loads.  Multiplayer works fine (parts that i tried) but the opening sequence skips bad from my Halo2 cd, and the first level does not load, just gives me DDE. I tried to make a back up on my HDD and 2 map files will not copy over, (the ones on the disc that is scratched) and yes I know I could easily solve this problem illegally, but I wish not to.

if someone can help me with the 2 map files please PM me and there we can swap email addresses to further solve the problem.  btw I did read the rules before I posted and I believe there is no violation here within.  Thanks for anyone's help.

I OWN halo2 and tried to make a backup copy on my 250gig HDD.  I can post pictures of my HALO2 Game disc, the scratch, and the Collectors edition box.  I'm sure you would know, as anyone would, that if any disc is scratched enough so that certain files will not load, that the file is then considered corrupt.  Sorry I didn't know about swapping files were illegal.  If I was trying to do things 'illegal' I would be on my way to the Video game rental store, not posting how to correct my legally obtained video game backup.  But thanks for wanting to help me. <

I'm not sure that the video store idea is illegal. You *do* own a legal copy of it, and you are merely restoring damaged files. Since you already have a license for that software, I see no reason why you should not be able to restore your corrupted files from another disc (logic following personal computer software licenses, and the legality of "backups," since the software is licensed for use on one machine at a time, etc., etc., you get what I'm trying to say) <

Uh, so file requests for copyrighted files (i.e. game files) on this site is not permitted.

Moving to garbage.   <
