Gonna Buy A Tivo

Hey,

Im gonna buy a TiVo and im wondering if theres a way to network ita nd my PC so i can share data back and forth??? and if i can hook up my DVD player to it??

Older generations are pretty hackable.

You shouldnt be able to hook your dvd player up to it to record, there might be a hack to let you stream to your pc but I'm doubtful. It's a vcr, not made for much else.

Well I would except i got a gift card from best buy (its the only place in town....no circuit city, etc...) and thats on the top of my list since the card isnt enough to make a dent in my TV budget.

Tivo's are hackable. Also there is a newer Tivo out that has a dvd burner built into it. I think it's brand is Humax or something that sounds like that.

I know the series 2's can be hacked to enable the USB ports and plug in a USB network adapter. Then ftp the mpegs from it.

You can read about other info at tivo community forums but the admin David Bought er um I meant David Bott  ;) will ban you if you talk about video extraction. They are only good for info on how to put a bigger hard drive in your Tivo.

If I were a Linux guru. I would have my DirecTivo hacked already. There's more crap to do to hack them.
