I've messed up my Xbox a little by trying to troubleshoot an XBMC install failure; I ended up using the Slayer's Evox Auto-Installer 2.6, doing a full install. Now, the Slayer dashboard loads, with only the "Launch Disc" and "System Settings" options.
At this point, I'd like to re-install both a modern BIOS and newer version of EvoX. My goal is to simply run XBMC, using a 160GB hard drive (already installed and previously functional).
It's difficult to tell what to do by reading the forums - with a BIOS update, I want to be careful and certain it will work. I see so many auto-installers out that this seems like the best way to go, but I want both BIOS and dash replaced if possible.
My box is version 1.4, and I have no idea what the current BIOS is; evox.ini can't tell me, and Slayer's says "Unknown BIOS". I have no mod chip, nor do I really want one.
Can anybody help me find exact instructions for this, or tell me the name of a good auto-installer that covers my needs?
TIA,
Dave
