My C drive looks like an original retail drive except the fonts directory which has the bert and ernie from XboxHackur and renamed original font files. EvoX should run from the e:/feenix directory, right?

EvoX should run from e:/feenix/bioses

evoxdash.xbe should be in the feenix/bioses folder? that seems strange. I'll give it a shot.

I've tried evoxdash.xbe in the e:/feenix folder and in the e:/feenix/bioses folder (that one seems strange, though) and neither worked. I also tried evox.xbe in both folders. Again, same black screen.

The PBL being used is the "Signed Phoenix Bios Loader 1.3" - didn't say anything about being for audio. Plus, it runs the logo, so I think PBL is running, it's just not running any evox.xbe.

The evox I'm trying to run is the one that came with the PBL.

One of these days.......................

------------edit--------------

OK, so that was my problem... I got an unsigned PBL 1.3.5i and signed it and hex-edited it. PBL loads, but hangs on the text screen. The last line says something like "calculating entry point." Still won't boot evox.

What should the exact file name be for evox and what exact folder should it be in? Also, the notes that came with the PBL say that the boot.cfg does not contain the RC4 key and that the old one wouldn't work. I figured the linuxboot.cfg was a replacement for it, so I didn't do anything to boot.cfg. You said to get the Signed PBL, though, which would have a proper boot.cfg, I assume. Maybe that's my problem?

FYI, I've created a new set of fonts that eliminate the hex-editting posted here.

Mine is named xboxrom.bin if it makes any difference.

xboxrom.bin is the bios, not the evox program... Where is your EvoX program?

OK, since I was stupid and didn't follow the directions by getting the PBL signed for Audio, I deserved the stress. I got it working now. To my credit, though, they should put the packaged PBLs into the folder where I found the old one (font exploits/packages) - I didn't know to look anywhere else.

Anyway, I also discovered that the evoxdash.xbe should be in C:, not anywhere in E:. Perhaps it *could* be somewhere else, but the PBL was reading the one in C: when I had it in both C and E.

Thanks for coddling me through this all.

can 1.3.5.i be signed for audio ?  it allows running any bios as long as the rc4 key matches,, (as far as i know) plus i think im correct on this but you can run a 256k rom on 1.o box;s which normally need 1meg bios's.

just wanting to stay upto date with the pheonix materials.., i like 1.3.5.i better.

Where evoxdash.xbe is will depend on the bios used...

[EDIT] Lestat, when you say the new PBL will boot any bios as long as the rc4 key matches, do you mean non-BFM bioses? it pertains to another thread (here)

mow which bios did you try, the only ones that work with pbl are
4977
4978 (4978.03 did NOT work for me)
Evox D6
Evox D6 eject fix <-- this is a 256k bios and works great, that is my normal bios.
Evox2.6
Evox 2.6 Ejectfix
and err im thinking one more but i cant recall.

they MUST be BFM bios too or they wont work.

i have not gotten ANY version of M7 to work yet so i assume it uses a different RC4 key.

Any xbe can be signed with the audio or Habibi key.

nailed -

the xbe must be an original if its signed already with something else, then it wont work the signing will fail.

so just to set the record straight, add
any ORIGINAL xbe will sign.

I'd like to point out that these fonts work for the 1.3.5i version of PBL as it looks for the bg.jpg image in the folder so if your using version 1.3 like me you will need to create that file

Hrm still cant get these ones to work only XboxHakurs work for me
