Today i got an xbox from a m8 that keeps having clookloop problems. He has brought it to me several times and its the only one ive come across that wont come out of the loop. I have tried all the tips suggested in the thread i started about getting out of the loop, all to no avail.

Anyway, i thought i'd give it a go with the mechinstaller fonts. I use these myself and think they are superb. My 1.5 have no loop whatsoever, even when unplugged over night.

Anyway (again)...
I left the box unplugged overnight, and it went into the loop sad.gif It only took about 20mins however to come out which is an improvement over not coming out at all. But these 1.1 boxes have something different that makes them loop worse than all the other boxes. I cant test it again to see how long it'll take to come out as its gotta go back today.

Anyway, heres the info, if others that have loop problems with these fonts can post there info too, we may see a pattern.

Versoin - 1.1
Kernel  - 4817
Dash - Updated to xblive2 then downgraded to dash 4920
Mfg. Date - 2002-08-31
HDD - Seagate
DVD - Philips

Is there any news allready with the mech fonts not working on 5530 and newer kernels? Is this something the geniusses who created/edited the fonts can fix? I surely hope so cuz them fonts are the best ones around and don't wanna use any others.

I would say these fonts are old and outdated, and there are better ones out there now. These do work, but I wouldn't necessarily recommend 'em any more.

I'd create an updated tutorial, but alas I have no time and I don't know where my Xbox is.

The ones released by XboxHakur on the MaxConsole forums seem to be the best ones out there at the moment.

Any chance to get a link to the fonts or the right post on the forum or something. been lookin allover on the max forums and only seem to found the new fonts from catfish which to my understanding are some new mechinstaller fonts which sound cool but still not compatible with the 5530 kernel.

OK I headed over to MaxConsoles forum and got some fonts, the only ones that seem to patch the Dashboard using K: 5530 are the Linux ones that Boot the Mechinstaller Linux on e:debian

Hmm..  I thought BigFonts was different than MechEvox.  Sorry I had that already. BTW I have had PBL 1.35i signed with audio work like a charm..  My Phoenix was installed to e:\linux.xbe because that is where ST.DB looks.  Disregardwhat the phoenix doc says, cause it doesn't load itself.  And I was loading an E:\ Bios so Evox was also there. So for PBL 1.35i and 1.4 Audio you need:
e:\linux.xbe  (PBL audio signed)
e:\boot.cfg (with atleast rc4 key,  EEPROM keys are a bonus)
e:\ jpegs   (3 jpgs I think)
e:\phoenix.raw (for v1.35i)
e:\xboxrom.bin  (or filename in boot.cfg)
e:\bioses\ (Optional, Press A *fast* to choose diff bioses from this dir)
I was wondering if anyone can get Audio Exploit to work with x2 4981.67 on the TSOP.  It worked like a charm with 4034, My dash is correct.  If I loadMSDash under 4981 and attempt swapless audio it will freeze When I Press the very last A in the sequence.  If I attempt this after PBLing a diff bios into memory When I complete the code sequence the xbox just reboots without an error message (My HDD is locked btw).  If I remember correctly, the exploit worked once after the flash on two different HDDs, then corrupted them the 2nd time while I correctly did the code.  I have also cleared out the fffe0000 directory entirely and created new structure.  (I think I even formatted e: on my seagate..  I'm just curious I know I don't need audio.  Wanna know why is all.  I have a hunch is has something to do with that beatiful media patching code that lets Amped 2 run off the HDD.  (Fair trade if that is the reason..)

Anyway you should try the new stable swapless audio and see if that ones fucks up as well.

UPDATED 25/11/03 - CHANGED THE FIRST STEP TO RECOMMEND AUDIO SIGNED 1.3 NOT FONT
UPDATED 18/11/03 - SLIGHTLY ALTERED BASED ON SUGGESTIONS AND GRAMMAR FIXES - UPDATED TO CLARIFY .BAK FILENAMES
UPDATED 16/11/03 - SLIGHTLY ALTERED TO MAKE THINGS CLEARER
UPDATED 2/11/03 NEWLY REVISED AND UPDATED - NO LONGER NEEDS ANY HEX EDITING!

I've created a little tutorial on how to install the MechInstaller-EvoX fonts correct and this has worked fine for me. This exploit doesn't suffer from the clock bug making it ideal for most people, and allows easy access by replacing the Live! on the dashboard with Pheonix, which (as the name suggests) loads Phoenix Bios Loader. This means no dashboard/EvoX connecting problems. smile.gif

This 100% and completely describes what you need to do to install MechInstaller-EvoX - no other steps should be needed!

Anyway, on with the tutorial - "How to install MechInstaller EvoX manually":

1. Download Signed Pheonix Bios Loader 1.3.5i for Audio Exploit - I recommend 1.3.5i as that's what I used, but others have used 1.3 signed for the Audio exploit with success - and XBEDump
2. Decompress PBL into a directory, then and sign it with Habibi key using "XBEDump default.xbe -habibi". This creates out.xbe. Delete default.xbe and rename out.xbe to default.xbe
3. Make sure you are using Live! 1.0 dashboard. If not, upgrade it using MechAssault by going into the Live options - keep going until it tells you it is updated the bios.. To do this you'll need to have an Ethernet cable connected.
4. Find a way of loading EvoX so you can FTP to your Xbox. There are plenty of tutorials out there that explain this. Backup your Xbox the whole of your HDD in case something goes wrong - better safe than sorry.
5. Download the new fonts posted by below (made by XboxHackur, edited by Nailed and Me)  - extract them out of MechFonts-Feenix.rar. Upload the new fonts to c:/fonts and rename Xbox.xtf and Xbox Book.xtf to Xbox.bak and Xbox Book.bak respectively. This is a vital step - they must be named Xbox.bak and Xbox Book.bak otherwise it won't work!
6. If you aren't installing PBL 1.3.5i create a blank bg.jpg file PBLs directory directory
7. Upload Pheonix Bios Loader to e:/feenix
8. Put whatever bios you want PBL to load in e:/feenix/bioses and call it xboxrom.bin. I suggest using EvoX D6 NoEject as this should work on all Xboxes.
9. If you are using the EvoX bios put the EvoX dashboard onto the Xbox as c:/evoXdash.xbe along with EvoX.ini

Just to confirm, in this tutorial the changes we have made to the Xbox HDD are:
Uploaded: c:/evoXdash.xbe - EvoX Dashboard (along with EvoX.ini)
Uploaded: e:/feenix - Contains the Pheonix Bios Loader
Uploaded: e:/feenix/bioses/xboxrom.bin - EvoX bios
Created: e:/feenix/bg.jpg - Needs to be created if it doesn't exist, otherwise the fonts won't work! Doesn't matter what it contains on any version of PBL before 1.3.5i
Uploaded: c:/fonts/bert.xtf - Bert font
Uploaded: c:/fonts/ernie.xtf - Ernie font
Renamed: c:/fonts/Xbox.xtf has been renamed to c:/fonts/Xbox.bak
Renamed: c:/fonts/Xbox Book.xtf has been renamed c:/fonts/Xbox Book.bak

Now, to load it up simply reboot your Xbox with nothing in the drive. "Pheonix" should be the 3rd menu down - select it and it'll boot Pheonix Bios Loader and then EvoX.

Thanks to whoever released MechInstaller-EvoX (who without this wouldn't be possible), XboxHackur (for fixing the fonts so we can use them) and Wimpie007 (for removing the need to hex edit)!

The fonts referred to in the tutorial above are here - these were originally posted by XboxHakur, and edited by Nailer and finally slightly altered by me. These are MIME encoded, so get yourself a MIME decoder to use 'em:

How do I make that MIME encoded stuff into a file? Please point me in the right direction. I've tried hunting down MIME decoders on google and come up with nothing so far.

Thanks,

Download a MIME decoder here: http://www.miken.com/uud/

Basically, copy and paste the file into notepad and save it. Then open it up, and it will decode it to a RAR. Open the RAR and you'll find yet another MIME file. Decode that and you'll get a RAR file containing the bigfonts.

Strangely, though, I did everything properly, and after I run Phoenix from the dashboard, the Phoenix logo comes up, then the faint impression of the dashboard again, which seems normal considering it happens every time I ran the PBL before, but then I just get a black screen.

My C drive looks like an original retail drive except the fonts directory which has the bert and ernie from XboxHackur and renamed original font files. EvoX should run from the e:/feenix directory, right?

Any idea what is going wrong?
