"error File Size Error" Before Bios Flash
« on: December 09, 2004, 11:33:00 AM »

Noob here. :)

I am attempting to flash my BIOS from 4981.67 to 4981.06 so I can have one big F drive. I upgraded HDD from 160GB to 320GB. I have the new 4981.06 in the BIOS folder on C drive and it shows up in Evox utility but when I select it it does not flash the bios, it onlt gives me the "error file size eror".

The MD5 doesn't match reference BIOS's from this site at all on my new 4981.06 BIOS, it is crazy compared to the other MD5's if it makes any difference. Here's what I got with XBTool.

All the other .bins are 1MB so I used the XBTools to make my new 4981.06 1MB from 256K.

I am modded but do not have a mod chip so there isn't a jumper to remove to allow for a flash. I have a TSOP flash, no chip. I didn't do it, a friend did and he's gone to IRAQ right now.

bad idea using .06 with a 320gig HD, the F partition is way too big.

Use the lastest .67 bios.

Get the bios in 256k form from "the usual places".

What make you say the F partion would be way too big? Would it couse problems if it was too big?

I have both 4981.67 and 4981.06 in both 256K and 1024K sizes.

How do I know which size to use?

Nevermind, I found that I have a 256K BIOS by reading and reading this site.

I also found that I cannot flash my BIOS since I had a no mod chip modded xbox. I have to solder the points on the board to allow me to flash. I found this info here as well.

Great site!
