"Best Bios"
« on: December 06, 2004, 04:59:00 AM »

Complete Noob here.  Got a Spider chip for my v1.3.  Seems like the Spider isn't too popular but I think it's excellent for Noobs as was a piece of piss to install.  Now trying to decide what to flash it with.  Has anyone got an suggestions, as I'm totally overwhemled by the choices out there.

Cheers

Evox M8 - Can be modded before flashing

iND-BiOS 5003 - Can be modded on the fly (except partition info 06/67)

X2 4983 - Use as standard only.

i wouldn't use an evox bios unless i had to, and currently the only time you would have to use evox bios would be if you had a 1.6 xbox and didn't have an xecuter3 modchip
i always mod all xboxes with x2 4981, but ind-bios would be a choice too

Please read my other thread http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?act=ST&f=3&t=318701 for background. As you can see I have flashed hte chip with a bios off slayers disc, I think it was m7 bios.

Which bios should I install?

cheers

I have a V1.1 and a soon to be installed 2.6. The way I understand it the bios can be up to 1024k but that would use both banks. I just want a stable bios that has been tested and proved. I am leaning towards the X2 bios but I am not really sure about what version to use. I have never seen the X2 bios run. I could care less about LIVE and dont really care if I am bannable because I have no intentions on using it. Thanks in advance.

I was reading the avalaunch site and it suggested using that particular bios or the most up to date.

ya.. to follow those exact instructions you would need to.. but you can run avalaunch with any hacked bios - x2, evox, ind, or any debug bios.  Its certainly not a requirement to use that particular version.

Just FYI of course... since that bios works fine

No thats cool man. I am learning as I go. I just like their auto updater feature and just want to try it out to figure out which one works best for me.

Really - why?
EvoxM8 seems to be a good stable bios, improved greatly by NghtShds support via EVtool. Can't see any reason to prefer X2 bioses, except for the rather redundant Live blocking. There wasn't much wrong with M7 either... wink.gif

Isn't that the Metoo version, and only suitable for 1.6 Xboxes?
