Ok....I know this topic has been beaten to death but I'm not interested in backing up to my HD.  Playing from a backed up copy on disk will be fine for me only thing is even the backed up copy gave me a "dirty disk error".  Any suggestions?

have you tried cleaning the drive? Maybe the drive is going bad?

You have to patch both driving.xbe and default.xbe (or whatever those two main xbes are), but I'm afraid I'm not going to touch that one.
