Slayers will restore the whole hard drive.  Don't use it that way.  Extract the iso into another folder in simplexiso.  Then search around the contents, until you find the dashboard files.  Then ftp it to your xbox.

Got sLaYeRs and extracted the ISO.

I see default.xbe

I went ahead and put it in C:

Doesn't work.  Attempts to go to the MS Dashboard takes be right back to Evox.

What am I doing wrong?  I powered all the way down btw.  Still, to no avail.

I have a first gen chip installed BTW.  Executer 1.

I tried renaming it as well...  Still nothing.

which default.xbe ??
micro dash is always named xbosdash.xbe
even inside slayer
the default.xbe that takes you back to evox is acutally evox it self.
the xboxdash.xbe can be found in /SYSTEM/ALL/c/ folder of slayer cd...

renaming the evoxdash to default.xbe and moving the xboxdash.xbe (ms) to the same directory resulted in the XBOX booting to the 'needs service' screen.

Good thing I had the evox boot cd with me.

Why is this not working?

Should I be editing the evox.ini or something?

try moving the default.xbe (evox) somewhere else....
so the only xbe is xboxdash.xbe (micro$) in c drive
and did you lock your hdd ?

It's the HDD that comes with the XBOX.

I notice my evox.ini references xdash.xbe.

Should I change that or should I leave the .ini alone?

Just putting the xboxdash.xbe on c: by iteslf gives me the 'Needs Service' screen (no number in the corner) everytime.
