well it can play hd movies if we improve the ram 128 will improve it and 256mb it will play ok but it's at  the edge becouse hd 1080p requiers 733mhz 256ram and geforce 4 grafic card or better

1080p what ? uncompressed AVI ?
good luck getting a 1080p h264 playign on anything 3 times those specs without frame drops

i've had it working on a compaq 800mhz with geforce 4mx 128mb with 512mb ram and using winDVD but it was at the edge

Your xbox is running out of memory so you should scale down your backdrops. 1280x720 will be an improvement but you might even consider going down more.

Its must of been a pretty low bitrate video and audio then plus you probably had coreavc installed which cheats by makeing it look worse.  
And when you say "IT" be more specific do you mean h264 encoded mkv's or just mpeg2 vob/TS files because anything can play that stuff because the compression ratio on it is low and uses shit all to decompress it
