i did a search on "wake up lan" on google...

so i'd have to buy a "wake up lan adapter"
this allows me to turn on the pc from the sleeping mode...

now just a couple of questions...

-is there a way to do it without having to buy/install any adapter???
-is it possible to turn the pc on (when its totally off. not in sleeping mode...) using this method or any other script???

I enabled it in the pc BIOS and on the NIC card but it seems I have to connect that wire between the two. I guess I'll get to it when installing a new DL DVD burner I bought recently. Thanks.

spoone,

the cable and jacket are similiar to the ones used for connecting fans. you better grab your mobo manual and look where the wol jacket is on your motherboard.  Same for the NIC.

if your nic supports wol you will find a white 3pin jacket on it (at least I have an OvisLink card here that looks this way). if you haven't received a cable with your card, go to your local hardware dealer, perhaps he gives you one for free. But first you better try to find out whether your model supports wol or not.
