If they are compressed right, the quality of a 700mb divx is going to be close to DVD quality.

from my experience a one hour and a half film encoded properly should result in about 700mb. quality decreases as the film gets longer etc.

but as stated above by deadontheradio, sometimes you just get crappy encodes.

lol.. yea....

consider xbmc to be the equivilent of an mp3 player(ipod or otherwise), except multi(and thats an understatement) media format.
There are others out there, but xbox media center is definately the best and most vesatile(as far as media playing is concerned).
But if your at a point where your asking this, i suggest you try a different section, because there are other processes involved with even being able to use xbmc.

you need a modded system.

yes ftp it to the hard drive and run the xbe.

i downloaded xbmc. everytime i unrar a file it gives me more files to unrar? what file do i need to ftp?

You probably got the source. You need a build. Check the usual place. Also its really not a good Idea to talk about movies you have downloaded. Its piracy and will get u in hot water around here, but its also kinda just common sense since it isnt legal.
