Problem Playing A Certain File

Hi, the other day I updated my XBMC to a new version and it was not able to
play some files that the old version handled just fine. Like for instance a svcd video file. It just went black then came back to the choosing screen. I tried
to install the codec for it in its folder, but that didn't seem to work. Anyone know
what could be wrong?
