XBMP for somethings (like when the audio gets out of sync in XBMC, I like how easy it is to resync and adjust in XBMP...)
And XBMC for somethings, since i love the 10 second fast foward ;-)
and, XBMC IS available in the 'usual places'.. just check IRC, and find the 'usual' xbmp ftp server..
it has xbmc on there as well ;-)

XBMC, it looks purrty and its newer, ftp and http server are kewl. Oh the biggest reason... XBMP wouldnt get the aspect ratio right, especially for 16:9 playback on a 4:3 TV.

I suggest you have both installed, that is what I do, and what i put on for pplz xbox's that i mod.

XBMC looks extremley promising. All that's really missing (for my humble needs) in XBMP though is Encrypted DVD playback (with menu's etc.) and easy subtitle customising (borders, size, position, etc.)
I must say however, I'm not a fan at all of the default XBMC skin and much prefer the default XBMP. But as soon as more bugs get ironed out of XBMC, and more features get implemented (full DVD playback *drool*, audio stream switching, etc.) I'm sold.

(Made my life a JOY when the bootlegs of Matrix Reloaded and 25th hour...held me over until the DVDs were released. biggrin.gif Can't wait for AC3 leaks of LOTR:Kings  wink.gif )
- File formats XBMP won't support: *.sc, *.rm, HDTV, etc

XBMP:
- Skinning
- Look and Feel, the overall AI
- Stable as hell! (So will be XBMC of course, but at the current moment, it's all XBMP!)
- Ease of setting up options
- On-Screen-Settings

3) WMV9 and possible HDTV playback so I can buy the T3 DVD in wmv9 HDTV format

I never thought about it being able to play HD WMV9 like T2 EX and T3.... Awesome!

Well, put it this way...

For Me:

XBMC didnt work sad.gif I set it up as far as I could work out without a manual and nothing happend, it ran, looked ok, but couldnt find any videos or anything.

However  laugh.gif

XBMP worked great smile.gif installed fine and works great, also, I LOVE the IMBD feature.

However I can see me moving over to XBMC as SOON as they:

1) Have a manual sorted
2) It has been tested more
3) Add features that XBMP cannot do

XBMC is the future, I know this, but XBMP is the present, it works great and does the job for me XBMC does not...

Keep up the good work people  beerchug.gif

I use both, but still prefer XMBP; I simply love on-the-fly subtitles e audio synching (GREAT!), the controls ala wmp, and the ratio feature.

I use XBMC only to play XViD using FFDSH codec, although in the latest build FFDSH movies are terribly choppy!! ;_;

The Xbox doesn't have anywhere near the CPU power needed to play WMV9 at HDTV resolution.

another thing... with xns in xmbc (maybe xbmp too.. dunno..) is that i cant seem to go down one level in folder hierarchy without going back to the lowest level...

these are minor things. I use both cos my e drive is to small for games and has plenty of space for both!

muhaha.gif

Here's some info that might help.

XPMC:

Easy to setup. Run it as a Dashboard or just an app in EvoX.
Supports WMA, WMV, MP3, MP4, DIVX, MPG1-2

Easy to Navigate.
