i wouldnt have said it was better at the moment, but i do normally start xbmc instead of xbmp becuase it is far better at decoding (better qual) and does everything i need most of the time perfectly.  There are some nice features missing but when i need them i switch, takes 2 secs coz i made the yellow button in xbmc go to xbmp and the green goes back to evoxdash.  red turns off surprisingly,... i never really liked XBMP at all.  I used it for about a week and decided that I'd rather use my computer for media. I tried out XBMC and was amazed.  It's faster, the video quality is better, and I find it easier to use.  I think it looks better too.  Plus it gets updated frequently to make sure that it doesnt have any bugs.  I'm sure there are, but I don't notice them.  I reccomend XBMC 100%.

no shortcuts.. (like. mediaplayer.cut"

You can use shortcuts. If you get it to scan the console in it's entirety it will make shortcuts for all xbe's.

I'll use it instead of XBMP once version 1 comes out, just  because I highly doubt a version 1 would have no rw, ff and no audio switching. It'd also be nice for better DVD compatibility but oh well.

Hey Chris
how did you change the action of the reset button (green button) to go open an xbe? I cannot find any code to change in the xml.
Thanks

wow xbmc sounds sweet.
but for small reasons such as not supporitng thumbnails and
no rew or ff ability
ill stick with xbmp untill either version one or the features i need are in xbmc.

thanks for the info!

By rew and ff I take it you mean rewind and fastforward.. well, xbmc kinda does have this, press left or right or up and down (if memory serves me) on the directional pad. It's not actually rw or ff but you can skip large or small segments of a file this way.

The last few CVS's of XBMC are far more stable, and what it lacks that xbmp has, it makes up for in other options...not to mention the 'expected' feature list will blow xbmp out of the water if it stays as stable as it has been.

Not to dis XBMP, I used it since I bought my box...would have been lost without.

I was informed yesterday by Frodo (head developer) that RW and FF like in XBMP (2X, 4X, etc.) was in the works. So it shouldn't be too long. Alas however, until this is implemented, I won't be able to use XBMC, as I watch mainly tv shows, usually back to back, and I just hate watching the intros over and over, and I'm too damn lazy to cut it out.

I prefer the look and feel of XBMC but I'm disappointed it won't play a .bin file directly, but XBMP will ;(

It can now. iso too. This is for DVDs tho. not sure bout other media.
