Problem Connecting To Xbox

My friend is connecting to his XBOX via an ethernet cable. The problem is, when he tries to log in, he is unsure of the username:password. I know it's usually xbox:xbox, but it's not working. Does anyone have any suggestions or know how to reset it. Thanks in advance.
