2 ways
1. use a crossover cable, go from your xbox to your pc,s nic then set them both to static ip's
2. use patch cables (straight through) and whack it all into a router, then set the network settings to
 dhcp (on both sides)

I think he mean RDP, VNC or something like that...

For that you can use xebian linux with rdesktop, and i think you can use Remote desktop on your pc
