XBMC handles RAR files really well. So well, that you can play video fies from within the archive even if it's split into 100+ parts.

UnleashX and XBMC both have better (quicker) FTP servers than Evox. Also, both are generally better dashboards, with things like built-in file managers, significantly better skinning support, gamesave managers, etc. They also both support zip/rar files - one of the advantages of a dash with an inbuilt file manager. smile.gif

If you don't want to change to a newer, better featured dash, then as Steveo says you can run them as an application when you want to transfer files.

XBMC supports UPNP, and will mount a remote SAMBA share from your PC, both of which might be quicker than FTP.

You might also want to try Filezilla as your FTP client.
