just reconfigure the permissions on the network share, adding the group "Everyone" and giving it read access should work, so long as you don't mind that other people can browse to your collection of "videos" although of course, access will be read only, so your precious films/tv series'/pr0n will be untouchable.

I tried all of the above, and it ended up with me trowing in the towl and installing xp professional. Works like a charm.
