I just picked one up in Melbourne, Australia from JB HiFi for AUD$47 (with King Kong and Universal remote included)... that's about 20% less than US$50 I think.

Toshiba has stated that they will continue to support the existing players.  As for the person who commented earlier on cheap titles.  This is just the beginning

I took advantage of the deal for various reasons.

You get an outboard dvd player so you can give your built in lens a break.. thus extending it's life.

There are still some movies that are set to be released in the format so you can buy these and previous releases at a discounted price because retailers are not going to take up valuable space for a dead format. The prices will stay at the 50% off mark or drop further for this reason. ( The current Hd library is over 350 titles).

and last for the price and the promotion you are getting 6 movies (5 in the promotion and King kong) and the player. That's roughly about $9 a movie and a free player...or $7.50 for each piece.
