Xbox Usb Cable
« on: May 05, 2005, 12:17:00 AM »

Does anyone know where to get the best deal on USB adapters for xbox ( female ) ( for USB mice and Keyboards for linux) ??

Things I am aware of

1. Lik-Sang Sells these adapters ( but at 18 dollars shipped a piece NO WAY )

2. I can make my own ( want a solid 3rd party cable)

3. I can add USB ports to my xbox .

Just so we avoid any confusion about what I want  :D

A solid site that sells these adapters , Or any Active member of the BST forums .

Let me know .

Have you ever looked at the Controller ports on your XB? There is BIG GLOBS of solder just begging to be modded. Installing a USB port without drilling holes is very easy. You can run the cable out and just mount it under your xboxes front cover.

i know - you wanted to spend money

Well, I see the Smart Joy everywhere. I've been talking to manufacters of it, but that's a little bit different. Doesn't divineo have one for like 8 bucks? <

It's not for me it is for a customer with a softmodded box that does not want it opened . I told him I could make cables but don't have any breakaway cables available and he wants something profesional . ( maybe should have included that in the post ) <

Why dont you addd 2 USB ports inside his controller, the 2 spaces where memory cards sit are the perfect size, looks very professional too.

I put 2 usb ports in a third patry controller, but didn't really need the tutorial, the points to solder to in any controller are the same really because the memory card can only fit one way, i diddnt use the ports mentioned in the tut, i used 2 ports from the back of an old pc, the ones you fit into an empty slot at the back, not a PCI card one. If you have msn i can send you a picture, [email protected].

I dont have an extra card but i do have like 40 of those fake card things laying around( the ones that go into a pci slot and connect to the extra ports on your motherboard) from building computers . Kinda like the ones you have in your modbox ( which is sick as hell I might add)

PS: do you have a cell phone plan just for your xbox on off switch or is it a prepay ?? <

Its prepay, so it doesnt cost anything to run, also the phone doesnt actually answer any call it recieves, the ringtone is swapped for a relay so it clicks on or off.

Here is a picture of the 2 ports in my controller. <
