Hi,
I got an xbox original recently. I tested it and got the error 11. I inspected the Drive to see if I could fix it. It seems that the most common solution is to replace it, which is pretty difficult to do nowadays. So I am trying my luck here if there is a slight chance to repair it. The cable is working (I swapped the harddisk and DVD, same error 11, I believe I would have had an error 7 otherwise). The power cable seems to work: the disc motor is spinning (although it is very loud) the tray does not open but I tested the motor and it is working and open the tray when powered. I cleaned the mechanism. the laser is not sliding but I tested the motor and it is working also. Not sure how to test the laser, but when I power off the xbox the laser head move slightly, which suggests that it is powered as well. I would think that the mechanical part of this device is ok. If the laser is dead will it return an error 11? Is there any possible way I can fix it? Thx |

Hi,
I just got this original Xbox (and I had one 20 years ago, so nostalgia is there). It is a v1.0/v1.1 (NTSC). It is not modded and also the DVD (Philips VAD6011) is not working (error 11, I will send a separate post on this one to ask if I can repair this drive). What is the best a way to hardmod (modchip or TSOP flashing) so to revive this console and play from the harddisk (original or a new one). I read quite a few forums already and pretty much all the time the console has to be either softmodded already so to benefit from a custom dashboard functionalities or the dvd drive has to be working so to used a Hexen or other DVDs. I have none of those. I am pretty handing with a solder (Aladdin XT Plus2 modchips seems easy to get) and overall IT stuff. Thx |

The xbox needs to be either have a mod chip fitted or bios flashed or the least intrusive is a softmod (Splinter Cell or Mechassualt exploit)
There are dedicated sections in the forums with FAQ's that explain how to do it. |

It's been quite a while since I've posted here, but it's good to be back.
So, I have an original Xenium Blue flashed with X2 5035 VGA and I am trying to get 480i out of this bios, but it seems to have 480p forced, as all my hacked dashboards are already set to "NTSC 4:3", and the MS dash only shows the picture format options (Fullscreen, Widescreen, Letterbox). Is there any way to disable that "force 480p" in this bios? I didn't see an entry related to resolution in the config file. TIA |

What about v1.6 with 128MB RAM? (this is now possible!) Very excited and keen for dual drive support (any combo of SSD/SSHD/HDD), 8TB or 16TB support (each drive or total?), UDMA5 support (Ultra-ATA/100), and MakeMHz XboxHD+ support... I'm loving what CERBIOS and the Titan patch are bringing to the party now - keep up the good work!! Also: After reading through the previous posts in this thread; are there any requirements for a HDD above the previous approx 2TB limit? (such as an 8TB HDD) I intentionally grabbed a Seagate BarraCuda Pro ST2000DM009 that's a 512 Native model (prior to seeing or hearing about CERBIOS) which has 512 bytes per physical sector. Would the sector/cluster setting requirements for > 2TB require (or would it be preferred for) a 512 Emulated model with 4096 bytes per physical sector? I definitely don't understand enough about any correlation with any of that and the settings when formatting a HDD for an XBOX - I read something somewhere else prior to purchasing my HDD about wasting clusters or sectors with the 512E aka 4K options with so many files that were much smaller (and I'm sure I'm just reading too far into this) when having older generation console ROMs and emulators stored as well... Lastly: are all CERBIOS versions going to stay at the 256KB mark? Just a nice-to-know ![]() Cheers! -Cookie |
