Title: Problems After Tsop Flashing
Post by: [BFA]AMD on November 01, 2003, 08:16:00 AM
hello!
I have the following problem:
I flashed the tsop d6 bios on my lpc modded xbox. after that, there was this error, that my xbox started, but the screen stayed black. after that i read, that the "a18" and "a19" should be grounded or on the + potential another connection from my modchip should be removed. so did i and then the xbox was able to boot. but the problem is now, that the modchip is some kind of disabled... I get the error 16 when i wannt to boot, that's because evo-x is still installed...
now my question: what do i have to do now?

thank you for your help ;)

would you like to flash your tsop?
or restore your modchip to a bootable bios?

you didn't need to do anything to A19 or A18.

disable (turn off or cut D0, ect..) your modchip approxamatly 1 second after you power on and it may start.

may need to ground A15 too.

i don't think that i need a multi boot bios... i would be very lucky when the bios would be like it was before, this means no tsop...

ok... i grounded a15 and with that i was able to boot :)
i booted evo-x from cd, but wasn't able to flash the bios... i removed a15 when the xbox booted...
what is my fault now??

the procedure you are following is for flashing the tsop.  it is failing because the write enable points are open.

i don't know if it is possible that you can boot that bios on a lpc mod and then flash the lpc mod.

i think you will need to do a hot swap with another modchip to  refash it.

anyone know?

you could make your tsop dual boot with a switch on A19, and just forget the modchip.

or just flash the whole tsop.  make a backup first in evox.

the problem is how i could flash the whole tsop... in evox, there is the message, that the modchip is write-protected...
i would prefer if i could flash my bios like it was before... but if there is no other way, it would also be ok
anyone got an idea?

hi again
i have still the problem that my xbox doesn't really work. i can now boot it manually with the D0 removal, but i'd like that i "work" normally.
what are my possibilities? i'd like to use evo-x and linux again on my xbox...

thanks for your help!

you have two choices:

option 1. flash tsop
solder the tsop write enable points.
do your trick to boot.
unground A15
do backup
flash tsop with 1M X-4977 or Evox-M7

option 2. reprogram modchip
buy an external programmer or

boot with somone else's modchip
hotswap with yours
reflash

Wouldn't that be like 2.5 choices? ;)
