Title: Returning To The Scene
Post by: Carcharius on December 14, 2012, 09:11:00 AM
Hi guys - it's been a while...
Not really sure where to post this to get the best coverage, so I might drop it in a couple of forums - apologies in advance to the mods!
So I've been away from the scene for the last coupel of years - real life took over.
Just recently realised how much I've missed it, so have decided to drop in here to try and reconnect with a view to getting involved once more.
So if r0wdy, lantus, TJ, oDD, XPort or anybody else from way back when is still around, please drop me a pm as I can't find any contact or irc details.
Thanks
Carch

Hello mate! Welcome back. There hasn't been a lot of new stuff in the past two or so years, sadly. However, Madmab has done some great things with XPort's emulators, Odamex (Doom) has been ported by one of it's authors, and there's a Jaguar emulator, which is slow and needs to have the sound disabled to play many games, but it's an early version and it's just great trying those games on the XBox. Surreal 64 has been updated a couple of times, and there's probably a few more that I can't recall offhand.
Anyway, it's nice to see you back, and I hope you find the XBox, it's homebrew, and it's loyal fans as interesting now as ever.

Don't forget the Saturn and 3do emulators, as well as the multi-emu retroarch.
Then there is nestopia, raine, scummVM and a bunch of homebrew released by NeoBomb.

Hi Carcharius! Although I arrived very late to the scene (it seems that I arrived when you went away) I want to tell you wellcome back!! It's very nice to see developers coming back to the scene (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
If you visit the sites that Freakdave recommended, you will see a lot of interesting things (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

We still don't have a homebrew browser like the Wii though.

I could never understand why the wii has this Homebrew Browser and the xbox never did.

Hi Carcharius, welcome back! I'd love to see some more projects from you and chat about them, as several of us are. Where are you talking xbox on IRC? Mabmab has a channel where a few xbox devs and xtras team members idle.

Hi.
Your old web page about how to get perfect pixel resolutions died quite some time ago.
Any chance you still have that available somewhere?

Did anything else/is anything else going to happen with the Saturn emu? I've tried it but it's pretty much useless to me (it didn't want to know when I tried to run the likes of Batsugun or Blastwind).
Been away myself for a while... though it's not like I did anything special. Just a lurker who likes to mess around with his xboxen!
Anyway, I see not much has changed: still some stuff getting updated, still one utter bellend spoiling it all (you know who I mean).
Any chance of an update to FBL? Would be nice to have some more shmups added to my xboxen...

CoinOPS plays about 10 times more SHMUPS than final burn and ever one of the Final Burn SHMUPS...so does Vision
