ScummVM 1.3.0git Update1
Posted by XanTium | April 4 11:46 EST | News Category: Xbox

A600 released a port of ScummVM 1.3.0git for Xbox1.
ScummVM is a program which allows you to run certain classic graphical point-and-click adventure games, provided you already have their data files. ScummVM supports many adventure games, including LucasArts SCUMM games, many of Sierra's AGI and SCI games and many more.

What's new/fixed:
* Added the ability to resize the screen. Use the included program xResizer and with the analogs, calibrate the screen until you see the green border; press A and a file xbox.cfg will be saved with the following options:
xpos=...
ypos=...
xstretch=...
ystretch=...
flickerfilter=1
720p=1
Now copy all those lines to the [scummvm] section of the scummvm.ini
* Added flicker filter and 720p mode (see above). For the 720 mode, use the
3x scalers.
NOTE: for a pixel perfect screen with correct aspect ratio these values should be used.
The reason I didn't add support for resizing the screen with the first release is because I use a projector with no overscan at all so didn't think about it.
* Source code updated to r44824
* Debug build should compile now.

Thanks for the update A600. Just so you know, I have been adding updates to libSDLx in my repositories including HDTV modes and some other changes. The details are in my sig. If you have any SDL changes you would like to submit just let me know. I would like to see the SDL port continue to improve.

Nice to see the author is paying attention and added some things to the emulator.  Like hyper_eye said.. he made improvements to SDL which means the supported modes can be looked up with the appropriate SDL commands (if needed).

If I remember the default SDL code in ScummVM uses these commands.

xResizer isn't working for me.  I tried it on both my xboxes, and it just freezes.  Fortunately, I found a set of parameters that works well with a little trial and error.   FWIW, xpos=40 and xstretch=-80 give a nice centered image on my display, without aspect correction.

When I first tried xResizer, all I got was a black screen and could not see the green border. What you have to do is delete the "xbox.cfg", then run xResizer and it will create a new xbox.cfg.

You will then see some green text and the green border.

Maybe I've discovered a bug. Played some Police Quest 1 VGA last night, left the game via the ingame menu, and returned to launcher. Launched Space Quest 3 and it did not work. The game gave the error notice "not now" (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)
But Space Quest 3 works like a charm if you play it directly after a fresh launch of Scumm.
Memory leak or something?

I'd love to see SMB/Samba support in the next version like the good old 0.6 version had it. The source code of this version is still available on xbins.

Hello,

Thanks for this! I've always wanted to try these games. I noticed this from the read me file:

(the MT32 emu isn't included because the Xbox lacks the power to handle it)

I was just curious:

1. what does the MT32 do exactly?

2. would it be possible to implement this as a special build for Trusty Xbox users? I have one of his 1.4ghz / 128 RAM Xbox systems and I'd love to see if this would work on it. (I'm guessing it will)

Thank you again!!!

MT32 is an external midi based synthesizer made by Roland.  It stands for Multi Timberal.

Alot of pc based games had support for it (mostly music) and in the case of ScummVM it is mostly the Sierra based games that make use of it.
