For anyone wishing to use my new draft of the dynamic Singularity skin
for NeoGenesis Madmab Edition.

SD version hasn't been overhauled yet but it's here = http://www.mediafire.com/?t3tdjdjinzy
HD/Widescreen version (updated) = http://www.mediafire.com/?mytuzznhmmk

Thumbnails for dashboards - XBMC etc. = http://www.mediafire.com/?mad2ymyztmn
Just put them in the root of the emulator folder.

PS. You will have to convert the Splash video from wmv to xmv.
Pop it in the skin folder.

No mods of this skin yet ?
Perhaps March will see more interest when everything is released.

How's your skin stuff coming along cbagy?

Adding more configs as we speak due to Madmab's transparecy fix on the Artwork.
The new configs will use 3d Artwork as opposed to the flat (2d) stuff usually found on xbox.
Nothing wrong with 2d artwork, i just feel the 3d stuff breathes more life into the images and
its a good reason to break away from square (rectangular) display sprites.
Although the emulators will have options for both types of artwork i feel the 3d look will prove more popular.
Gonna hang on now till "Xtras"release day before i suffer my artwork on people.

That's cool... I think the skins/emus will be released well after the Xtras anyhow so some last minute details can be ironed out when Madmab and others are able to actually see how the Xtras are organized and build accordingly from there.  I don't think it would be too long though since it seems we're communicating the hows and whys rather well in the chatroom.

Cool man... let me know

I'm really pushing to get the Xtras stuff out by the 15th, but the 2nd torrent (with the WMV files, larger boxarts, unpolished faqs/synopsis/artwork for systems I didn't do) and the Emu/Skin t0rrents will no doubt take a little longer to wrap up.

You got time....

Just not a whole lot.   It's recently come to my attention that I have a life to get back to.   (IMG:style_emoticons/default/cool.gif)

Still creating this one really. Works with 2d or 3d artwork, doesnt matter, although its geared toward 3d stuff really.

Maybe "3d" is too strong a word. I like to say "gentle perspective".
However it's takes far too long to type.

All links are dead for this one.
However there is a new draft.
The whole skin only uses 6 sprites, 4 of which are buttons.
Much prettier this one, again. (No square/rectangle boxes at all)
Will provide links 'n' pics when my camera batteries are recharched.

Looks great with the 3D stuff man.  I just tried it with the HyperSpin 3D boxart.

Nice to know you have time to relax and play with stuff for a change.
If i remember rightly you're a SD user, that skin is going through a few changes as we speak.
I have done the HD version yesterday, pics posted here, the SD version gets the same love sometime today.
It peforms even better than the last draft, a few more MB spared on resources.
Check out the new version soon.
I didnt use HyperSpin 3d boxes, i used some i made, so the dimensions will be different.
Your output preview may not be in the correct aspect ratio with those particular boxes.
If you give me the dimensions of the Hyperspin 3d boxes i will give you exact numbers to input to the skin.

Yeah.  I can take a look and let you know.

Have you seen the HyperSpin 3D boxart cbagy?  Not trying to take away from your 3D stuff at all since it's much more likely we'll see a full set with your template than we ever would with HS.  They're really great though since they have the side of the box and even have artwork and text on the sides.

I'd really like to get some people on our end and their end collaborating after the Xtras are released.  There are some really talented artists over there who have actually taken the time to make these very intricate 3D boxes for thousands of titles already and with my full sets they may be able to match our 2D artwork with 3D stuff someday.

The nice thing is, when people make 3D boxes of the stuff Gilles made generic boxart for to match the template of the system, there will be tons of games we can cover by only altering a few dozen.   If I had to guess, making 3D artwork out of about 50 generic boxarts would easily convert another 1,000 games to 3D boxart when copied and renamed correctly.

I have indeed, taken a brief look at HyperSpin 3d stuff.
Very good it is. It would be brilliant if they had "full" sets.
The template i made was only a starter produced on the spot, so to speak.
Its not set in stone, im sure more can be done with this idea.
I did have a brief chat with some of the chaps as to how to handle this
and the problem was "proper spines" for these boxes.
It was suggested to make "Generic" spines for the missing ones, which at a guess
means most of them. Im not convinced "Generic" spines is the way to go. Too disjointed for me.
If were gonna make sets they have to be good from the start, all built in the same vein.
Users will reply with "record a script in PhotoShop" well thats well and good for simple stuff like
resizing and bits n bobs. Unfortunately not a artwork was produced by the same people with
the same quality and the same contrast/colour saturations etc.
Some would require more attention where as others wouldn't need any work.
So as a final product they would need checking out individually really.
Any filters in a script, across a whole collection would produce variable results at best.

Like I said, I think there are some guys at HS that would have the drive and desire to do this if they had the 2D artwork to work with.  I also think that selling the idea with the Generic Boxart will make it even easier.

It won't happen overnight.  But I think it would happen.

There's a hack that puts Mario sprites into a Sonic game isn't there? That's about as close to Super Mario on the Mega Drive as you'll get I think.

That's the one I was thinking of, not a Sonic game, a Squirrel game. Never seen the title screen, they actually called it Super Mario World. Now that is cheeky.

Just adding last few configs then this skin is compatible with "All" Xport/Madmab emulators.
Im not bothering with config's for 2d artwork for a few reasons.

1. Its old hat and looks it.
2. The 3d boxes look far superior.
3. Using 3d Boxes negates the need for sprite frames onscreen thus saving precious memory.

Yes, before anyone ask's, all system's now have 3d artwork.

Check back soon.

Yes it is fair to say i've been keeping up to date with the emu itself.
I've been working on an effective and efficient skin now for quite a while.
Some ideas i had, have even been adopted by others allbeit in a more complete fashion.
So the skin, video intro, and its features, is nothing new, it maybe over a year old now.
My main priority was a lightweight skin thats powerfull and efficient without comprimising any of the features
and it looks exciting onscreen with ambient undertones.

However, no-one should forget that "ALL" the emulators come with with a pre-built skin by Gilou9999/Giles9999.
It is based on the PMIII theme and is an excellent representation of it.
It features lots 'n' lots of configs to suit TV types eg. SD, HD, WideScreen.
It makes use of the Xtras in all their glory.
Absoloute "top drawer" with great attention to detail. Top Marks.

However, its not my "cup of tea". Therefore i made my own alternative.
I only support SD and HD. It only supports 3d BoxArt but 2d stuff works aswell.
I dont support CartArt although it works in the skin.
It has 2 main configs, one for video preview users and one for screenshot preview users.
They both feature BoxArt etc. Oh did i mention the skin supports "ALL" other Xport/Madmab emu's too.
Anyway all will be revealed soon.

Finally got round to this one again.
Made it reasonably generic with other config's based on boxart sizes etc.
There are some support files included, a feature im currently building on.
The Sega stuff is included (splash screens and video etc) and the skin is defaulted for Sega stuff.
HD only for now but i will endeavour to finish the SD configs.
