Title: Final Burn Legends 1.0
Post by: nes6502 on November 17, 2009, 05:24:00 PM
Final Burn Legends 1.0

This is a port of Final Burn Alpha 2.99.07 to the Xbox. It also includes
parts of FBA-XXX Pro 1.29. The reason I developed this port was so that
I could play Thunder Blade, Galaxy Force 2, Turbo Outrun, and After
Burner 2 on the Xbox. However, it developed into much more
than that. Source code is included.

It features:

-Support for over 2700 games. Some games are not playable anywhere else
on the Xbox. It also has an excellent Sega Genesis emulator. Many
Genesis games play perfectly.

-Fullspeed emulation (even with software filters in HD) for CPS1, CPS2,
NeoGeo, Cave, Konami, and many other games.

-Hiscore support for most games.

-SRAM support for Sega Genesis games.

-Built in cheat database. Nearly all games have cheats (not just CPS1
and CPS2). This includes support for multi byte cheats. EEPROM cheats
do not work.

-Built in Help system with information about the emulator, FAQ, and the
controls.

-Per game ini files. Setting options in the GUI are global settings.
Once a setting is changed in the emulation menu, then those settings are
saved for that game only.

-Detailed arcade information. This is the MAME history database. This
can be selected from the in game emulation menu. This includes
information about the game, trivia, tips, etc...

-Save states. There are ten savestate slots for each game. There is a
preview generated for each savestate. Some games have issues with
savestates, but most games work fine.

-NVRAM support. All changes made through the Arcade settings menu are
saved.

-In game menu where the user can configure the controls, video, or other
options. This is accessed by clicking the right analog stick.

-Support for all the Xbox partitions and DVD drive. The Drive letters
are (C, E, F, G, X, Y, Z, and R for the DVD-ROM). DVD discs must be
created from XISOs. Otherwise the ROMs will not be found.

-Command line support. The first parameter should be the path to the
emulator (E:\games\Final Burn Legends\default.xbe etc...). The second
parameter should be ONLY the name of the rom without the extension (i.e.
sf2). Not sf2.zip. Not E:\games\Final Burn Legends\roms\sf2.zip.

-Supports game guides. These are text files that describe a game (found
at www.gamefaqs.com). Try to keep the files at 1MB or less.

-Supports the ability to take a screenshot which will then be displayed
in the GUI.

-Arcade settings menu. This is where options like DIP switch settings
can be changed.

-Hundreds of game filters. A user can display only the games they want.
For example, a user could display only horizontal shooters, or 2D
fighting games, or only CPS1, or only games made by Konami, or only
games made in 1998, etc... The filter categories are:

Custom (CPS1, CPS2, CPS1 + CPS2, NeoGeo, CPS1 + CPS2 + NeoGeo, All
others, Cave, Psykio, Cave + Psykio, Megadrive)
Manufacturer
Year
Genre (dozens of sub filters (2D Fighters, 2.5 Fighters, etc...)

The Manufacturer, Year, and Genre filter databases are intelligently
built. It only shows possible filters based on the games found. For
example, there will be no 2D Fighters filter if there are no 2D
fighting games found.

-Favorites browser (games are added/deleted by selecting a game and
pressing the white button)

-Software Filters:
  SuperScale
  AdvancedMame
  HQ2X
  Simple2X
  Scanlines
  2xSaI
  Super2xSaI
  SuperEagle
  SuperScale75

-Hardware Filters:
  Bilinear
  Point
  Trilinear
  Gaussian Cubic
  Anisotropic

-Resolutions:
  480i
  480p
  720p
  1080i

Most games run at 60 FPS regardless of the resolution.

-Flicker Filter. This determines how blurry the screen is.

-Soften Filter. This determines how blurry the screen is.

-The screen can be adjusted during emulation. Each game saves this
information to an ini file.

-VSYNC can be turned on or off. Off might provide more accurate
emulation speed for games that do not run at 60 FPS. However, there are
not many that don't run at 60 FPS and it will cause screen tearing.

-10x11 pixel aspect ratio for users in 480i/p

-Screen rotation. The screen can be rotated up to 360 degrees. This
might be needed for some games.

-6 speaker surround sound (however no games output the audio in that
format)

-Sample and FM interpolation can be enabled or disabled.

-Sound frequencies 11025, 22050, 44100, and 48000.

-All 4 controllers supported.

-All the buttons can be configured.

-Supports turbo for all buttons. There is a turbo speed that can be
adjusted if needed. The higher the number the slower the turbo.

-Macro support. Any button combination can be used. These are read from
an ini file and the user can add macros to it. Macros work as follows:
A user would first map the buttons for the game they wanted to use a
macro for. For example, the user might map the 3 punches in Street
Fighter 2 to Xbox B, Y, and Black. The user then would enable the macro
for Xbox B, Y, and Black (B + Y + CK) and assign this macro to an Xbox
button (for example the Xbox right trigger button). Then, when the user
presses the Xbox right trigger, it will actually tell the emulator that
the user pressed the Xbox B, Y, and Black buttons. Since these buttons
are mapped to the three punches, then it will be the same as if they
pressed all three punches at the same time. This simplifies certain
combo moves where the user has to press multiple buttons at once.

-The cursor speed can be adjusted. This is the on screen target that is
drawn for shooters like Rail Chase.

-Almost all image/text items can be adjusted in the Options menu.

-Screenshot previews. It automatically detects when to display
horizontal or vertical screenshots.

-It supports up to 8 screenshots per game. These can be cycled by
pressing left/right on the right analog stick in the GUI.

-Analog scroll through the ROM list. Press left or right on the DPad to
cycle throguh letters of the alphabet.

-Video previews

-Dual previews. If the emulator only finds a screenshot, then it
displays the screenshot in single screenshot mode. If it finds a video
and no screenshot it displays the video in single video mode. If it
finds a video and a screenshot then it automatically uses the dual
preview mode where the screenshot and video are displayed side by side.

-The main menu supports six different backgrounds and a movie layer.

-The game select screen supports independently moving/resizing the game
panel, the selected game panel, the background, and all other items.
This way the user can create a user interface to suit their preference.

-Animated logo for the ROM browser and Main Menu screens.

-Splash screen

-GUI sound effects.

-GUI sound effects can be disabled.

-Options to scan the ROMs directory. This needs to be done if games are
added, deleted, or the ROM path is changed.

-All ROMs match the latest version of FBA 2.99.07. If the game doesn't
work there, it won't work on this port. A dat file is included that can
be used to verify or fix any game. The PC version dat file will not have
all the games the included dat file has.

-Three skins are included (one for 480, 720p, and 1080i). If you are
going to use the emulator in HD, then pick one of these skins. It sets
everything up for you.

-Skin browser

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Notes:

-If you reset a game and it doesn't reset, then try it again. Sometimes
reset doesn't take.

-The resolution of the screenshots matter. Larger screenshots will slow
down the GUI. An easy way to get only screenshots that Final Burn Legends
supports is to download a complete MAME screenshot set. Put the
screenshot.bat and FBA folder (from the tools folder) in that folder.
Run the screenshot.bat file. It will copy any screenshots that Final
Burn Legends supports to the FBA folder. Then copy those screenshots to
the Xbox.

-There are a few games that will only work in 480i/p. I am only aware of
four. If a game runs out of memory in HD, then try it in 480i/p. That
may fix it. 99% of all games work in all resolutions though.

-Any time you add, delete, or change a game make sure you re-scan your
ROMs. This is found at Options->Rebuild Game List

-There is no CPS3 emulation nor will there be. The Xbox is not fast
enough to emulate these games using Final Burn Alpha.

-Sometimes games will crash if invalid cheat codes are enabled. For
example: Don't enable "Always have 7 magic spells" in Golden Axe if the
Dwarf is the character. The Dwarf can never have more than 4. This would
crash the game.

-Sometimes games will have corrupt graphics or audio when loading
savestates. Nothing I can do about that.

-If a Genesis game says something like "This game was designed for NTSC
or PAL systems only..." then reset the game. That will switch regions.

-The default aspect ratio for vertical games is not 100% correct. This
can be fixed by resizing the screen if needed. This only has to be done
once since each game saves the settings to a separate ini file.

-If you are going to modify the code and make another release, please
only do so if you can meet the following criteria:

  1)  RELEASE THE SOURCE! Don't take mine or anyone else's work and not
release the source. Everyone should get to benefit and future
developers should be able to improve the code whenever current
      development stops.

  2)  Don't take Final Burn Legends, make a few changes, and then call
it something else. Call it Final Burn Legends. Only change the
      version number.

  3)  Release it properly through Xbox-Scene. This way, you get the
proper credit and it helps keep the Xbox scene alive.

  4)  I would appreciate it if no one made changes to it while I am
still working on it. I will make it clear when I've stopped.

-New skins can be added by following these rules:

  1)  Make sure the new skin has all of the files found in the arcade
skin (i.e. there should be an option.png, mainmenu.png,
rombrowser.png, etc... file). None of the images should be bigger
than the ones provided. Memory is at a premium and larger images
will cause the skin to not display in HD or cause games (like
      NeoGeo) not to work.

  2)  Make sure the files are in a folder with the name of the skin
(i.e. if the skin is called "FBA" then all the files should be in
      the "skins\FBA" folder)

  3)  Once a user has created the images for the skin and copied them to
the new FBA folder, they can set up the skin through the GUI. The
current GUI settings are saved to ini\FinalBurnLegends.ini. When
the user is satisfied with how the GUI looks, they should copy the
FinalBurnLegends.ini to the new FBA folder and rename it to
      FBA.ini.

  4)  The FBA.ini file should have the line FBA where the skin name is
written. Look at arcade1080.ini as an example. About half way
through the file is a line that says "arcade1080". That line would
be replaced with "FBA" (without the quotes) in this example. The
folder name, the ini file, and the name of the skin in the ini file
should all have the same name. Otherwise, the skin won't work.

  5)  Search the ini for the word "Selected" (like GameSelected,
CustomSelected, etc...). Make sure it says the value =0 for any
that are found. If the ini file has GameSelected=1000 and another
user uses your skin and doesn't actually have 1000 games, then
      that could cause a crash.

  5)  The skin can then be uploaded to the internet for all to enjoy. A
user would just add the new skin to the skins folder and pick it
      from the Options menu.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Compatibility:

Most games work perfectly (and at 60 FPS). Most of the ones that don't
work require VM. Some games don't work correctly or at all but that is
rare.

If a game does not run at 60 FPS, the first thing to do is
disable software filters. Another option is to run in 480p. Games that
use VM may run better in lower resolutions since there is more RAM.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thanks:

Kenshiro (Big thanks to him for the NeoGeo and other VM code). The
NeoGeo compatibility would be much lower without his code.

iq_132 for the PGM code and other help

Wac0 (Most of the GUI was done by him), Giles9999 (GUI), and anyone who
made a logo

Xport, FinalDave, and anyone who worked on any of the FBA PC versions or
Xbox ports.

Antirad for the great logo.

Anyone I forgot.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Please post any bugs or requests in this thread. Read the FAQ first.

What NOT to post (or PM me):

-Can you send me the emulator?
-Where can I download the emulator?
  -Where can I download ROMs?
-My ROM doesn't work (i.e. I haven’t verified it on the PC).

What to post:

-Any game that gets an "Out of Memory" error. (other than CPS3, PGM,
or D.D. Crew) Please post what resolution you were in.
  -Anything that crashes the Xbox
-Anything in the GUI that doesn't work correctly.
-Any requests (not please add <your favorite game here>) Requests are
for GUI features or fixing games (other than CPS3 or PGM games) that
are already supported in the PC version but not in the Xbox port.

Enjoy

Yeah your right. Completely lame. And all those game companies who made all the Xbox games to run on Xbox DVD drives had the gall to make the games in Xbox format. Completely lame. And why didn't the Xbox come with all these arcade games on the system when it was sold? Also completely lame.

What's lame is that you are too lazy to convert your ROMs and want me to do all the work for you.

Nice work NES.  Glad to see you're still around and contributing to the scene.  We don't talk much, but I got nothing but respect for your work.  Gotta say that working in the shadows as you do is really cool too.   When it comes to quality over quantity of posts, you have to rank somewhere at the top in these parts.

Maybe it's time to take a little break from my Xtras work and have a little fun...   ohmy.gif

Think before you speak brother.

Not only completely buried by negativity, but if NES was like some coders around here he would keep the feature out of the emulator even if he knew he could do it fairly easily.

Care to roll the dice.....?   You already did....

You lost NES at "lame".......

That being said NES, I'd like to suggest two new features for your awesome emulator.

1.  You know.... I'm a pretty lazy guy myself, and I think I speak for the entire laziness collective when I say that I wonder if the only way roms on DVD can be read is if they're XISO?

(I don't even know what any of that means, so bear with me here)

2.  Ever consider Network/SMB support?  That would be killer.

If it can't be done that's cool.  Just thought they'd be great additions to an already kick ass emulation experience.

Later,
~Rx

Just from reading the release log, I can tell without even testing it that it's probably the best emulator port ever to grace the Xbox.

Well done, nes.  Seriously.

I do have a question for you though.

How does the screen sizing system work?  Is it like Xport's with the actual resolution details or like ZsnexBox with it's experimental numbering system that was more difficult to use?

the skin's great. i love stuff like that, and i plan to check it out soon.

i'm running it from the hdd in the G drive, and i don't know how to make genesis games show up. they're the only things i've tried to run so far. i rebuilt the game list, and converted the title to lowercase, and even changed one from Sonic the Hedgehog.bin to sonic.bin to remove space (in case that was it). i thought it might even be the .bin extension, but .smd didn't work either.

Use the dat file I provided. Sonic should be zipped and named something like g_sonic.zip I think. RomCenter will do all the renaming for you though.

Neither. I just render the screen. If it doesn't look right to the user, they just resize it until it does. Each game saves the screen settings to it's own ini file. I don't display any numbers on the screen. That is the one thing I wish I had never done for ZsnexBox. I did it as a way for people to share "correct" aspect ratio settings. All people did was complain that the numbers didn't make sense. Some seemed to be on a crusade against ZsnexBox over this which no doubt confused users into thinking other less accurate, slower emulators were somehow better.

No one ever understood that they never were meant to represent pixels. I'm not rendering to pixels on the screen like a console does (or a PC emulator does). It's all in 3D with a camera looking at a 3D square with the image on it. The user is simply stretching the 3D square so that it "appears" to cover the TV screen. The user can get the correct console look with tweaking if they want to. I never cared about stuff like that. I just want every inch of my TV screen covered with the image. If that means pixels are not perfectly square, then so be it. That's just my preference.

I used clrmamepro (best rom manager ever), did a rebuild of MAME 0.135, HazeMD 0.14a & the Sega No-Intro sets.
Everything worked fine.

BTW in case somebody's wondering, g_indy.zip is still MIA, so you won't find it anywhere yet.

While I found ZsnexBox's pixel system difficult to use, I appreciated your efforts nonetheless.  After some tweaking I eventually worked out the proper pixel alignment and copied the numbers down for safe keeping.  Personally, I'd much rather have the numbers than nothing at all.  Having to blindly align games one at a time is going to literally take hours with FBL.

Perhaps you've answered this question before, but is there really no way to display the pixel resolution in a manner similar to Xport's with your rendering system?

I just can't see you trying to reinvent the wheel just to be different.

At any rate, excellent work, nes.  I can't wait to test it out.

Is there any chance you would consider an option to be able to set the default screensize values for all games in the GUI similar to how it's handled in FBA-XXX and MAMEoX? I appreciate that all games have different native resolutions but most users don't care about that and just want the video stretched to one set of values.

Hey Consoleman,

I asked him in the past the same question, and if my memory does not fail,
he said he was not able to implement such method of screen size and coordinates display
as Xport uses. I also asked BP to have such thing on their CoinOPS emulators, but he said he does not
like the Xport's method.

So I gave it up on this when finally we had a SNES emulator by Xport.
Finally I was able to keep everything on the same fashion down here.
I use Zsnexbox only for Euro games, and rarely.

Hey NES,

I understand your preference about just have the image stretched
all way on the TV. Please don't get me wrong. But for people who want
sharp pixels and a correct aspect ratio, the Zsnexbox (as the CoinOPS)
method of displaying coordinates and sizes (or, screen usage) is simply
a pain!!!

To end the conversation, I agree with Consoleman. Having ANY kind of numbers
is much better than have nothing. Please consider this on the next release!

Ah, and forgot to say CHEERS about the possibility of EACH GAME having
ITS OWN SCREENSIZE on a separated INI file. THIS IS AWESOME. SUPERB.
AMAZING. Thank you VERY much for this.

Best regards, guys!
Cospefogo.

I just transferred everything to XBOX, used the dat to rebuild roms, placed them in the roms subdir.
All roms but Indiana Jones Greatest Adventures / Trilogy (g_indy.zip) is present, all verifies with included dat.
Am I missing something here ?

as i've said before: best xbox1 news of the year for me:
A BIG FRENCH KISS TO YOU NES6502!!! (without the tongue)
This fba is perfect in 720p on my hdtv, 0 slowdowns, fluid and smooth for all my games until now (even garou runs full speed with filters on smile.gif ) ;always 60/60fps - the xbox is pushed on it's very limit, it can't be better-
- the best code (and finally the last and more accurate neo geo code from my friend Kenshiro)
mixed with the best GUI (equal with the future madmab editions betas we are working on,since they support all sort of dual preview /single preview stuff now laugh.gif ) result in the best xbox1 emu!
finally i have dual screenshot/videos previews for fba and the emulation is better than ever! (full intros for neo geo games like magician lord, shock troopers, better background in blazing star, but that is just a little example)
so great!
like it is, i think it is perfect, so just one complaint for the fun:
like we know, the xport screen adjust system is perfect,no way to adapt this to your baby? (in fact it is especially helpfull for the sdtv users who plays WIthout any filter (like Cospefogo, me or consoleman i think, and many others laugh.gif )and ESPECIALLY because i have noticed all the original screen size for each game is indicated in the synopsis for each game (under -technical-) when i play on my hdtv i use filters, so, i don't really need precise coordonate in 720p.

and second thing:
is there any way to add the rumbles in fba legends?rumbles were working on fbaxxx (i have kept the rumble.ini file if you want)

You are the boss so if you think it is impossible/don't want, then perfect, the emu is really great like it is

p.s.: yeah we have to convert the skins we created for fbaxxx pro some months ago for your baby, it is an obligation, we have good ones from franckmorris, iceman,me and fumanchu i think?

p.s.2:et un gros "meuuuuhhhhhh" de la victoire pour toi kenshi!
I have the "coucougnettes en ébullition"ready for my wife!

Ok, I deleted some of the roms, restarted FBA and it launched ok.
I then added 3 more rom dirs, edited ini file to look in those dirs.
Started FBA again, did a rescan of roms and it crashed again.
It looks like it doesn't like a full set of roms. sad.gif

It's the Genesis games. Delete them all and I bet it won't crash. It may just be one of them that is causing the crash. The problem will be finding the one that causes it since I disabled all the debug info. You can find it through the process of elimination (test 100 at a time, test 50 at a time, 25, etc... and narrow it down). For some reason just accessing information for some Genesis (like the name of the game) games causes Final Burn Alpha to crash. That happened to me about 10 times when I was enabling more games. If you can track down the file that is crashing, just delete it and the others will work. I tried about 500 hundred with no problems but I didn't try building the ROM list will all of them in the folder (only about 500 of them). I'll fix this for the next release.

ROMPath4=F:\roms\fba <---

Yep.... saw somebody else post about it before I read this.

Nice work.  jester.gif

Somebody should help put a video pack together for this that match all the rom names.  I hear there are quite a few HD videos floating around that match up.  I'd be happy to take submissions from people and package an Xtras pack of videos for this emu if people are interested in helping out.

I'd do it myself, but I'm really wrapped up in the Gameboy synopsis work at the moment.

This emulator has great everything: the games use the most up to date sets, the games look great, play great, and the GUI features are great.

Because I'm an audiophile, it seems that the emulator's sound core got a pretty serious improvement over the other versions of FBA too.  The games sound great (much better than before).  I used to get crackles, pops, and periodic stutters in FBA-XXX's sound at both 480i and 480P res <----this is totally nonexistent in FBL at any resolution mode or combination of video filter/audio settings.

The audio is just richer in general for everything I've played, except for some of the PGM and Konami games that don't have accurate sound emulation in PC FBA yet.  CPS1, CPS2, NeoGeo, Cave, and Psykio have improved sound.

FBL really is quite impressive.  It's a virtual arcade haven.  smile.gif

Understandable and makes sense kinda. But not all emulators can share those roms anyway as they all use slightly different cores therefore not all will work in all emulators. Then there is rome names to consider.

This is true, but some emulators allow you to select more than one folder.  I could have 3 different Arcade emulators on my box with completely different romsets and still use CoinOPS to select all three of those rom folders and have a fourth folder with all the missing roms that aren't in the other three.

The more compatible this emulator is made for romsets, the more flexible you can be and have the bare minimum roms on your hard drive.

EDIT:

I'd love to just have about 3 or 4 different folders with alternate roms that different Arcade emulators need.  If all the arcade emulators allowed you to select 4 folders like CoinOPS does, then this would be possible.

coinops doesn't allow four slots. it only allows 2. the default and more roms. the mameox & mamedox allow 5 or 6 and you can type in the path from the options screen.

Any MAME emu I've used allows for 4.  If this is 2 now, it's been reduced.

The feature to use 4 folders should be put back in if it was not reduced for some memory saving or otherwise beneficial reasons.

First; great work!! love the options like the game-history ; which is lacking in others like coin-ops.
Hope to see more projects from your side on the `box!

One hing I noticed though is the fact that; although fast and smooth; games like afterburner and outrun don`t seem to run as smooth like for example afterburner did in final burn project (even without filters etc.)..personally i`d love to play outrun in 'full-smooth' without using my dreamcast for it..then again its using an older engine built; so thats probably not going to happen.

And yes; maybe an option to choose a directory..but thats just me being lazy

Outrun is pretty much running 60 FPS the entire time. Disable software filters and turn on the FPS display. Afterburner ran fullspeed in Final Burn because I used a nearly 10 year old core. This core is more accurate but slower.

Some Arcade emulators allow you the ability to choose multiple folders where your roms are stored.  I'm just wondering if that would take a lot of work or if it would be easy to do.  It wouldn't be out of the ordinary to have 3 different Arcade emulators on the box and it would be nice to be able to select multiple folders so you don't have to house the same romset 3 different times.

It supports 8 different ROM paths. Not that it is needed though. No user will be able to share ROMs between different emulators for FBL. FBL uses the latest ROMs where most arcade emulators on the Xbox use ROMs from many years ago.

Hey there NES,
I second that!!!

I think of the following to bring the in-game menu:

Option 1: BACK + START
Option 2: L trigger + R Trigger
Option 3: BLACK + WHITE

This is a VERY important setting to be added. I reserved my Sunday to install FBL and to test this very promising emulator, but I will not move further since it was said here that there is no way to enter the IN-GAME without using a thumbstick. I use ONLY original Sega Saturn pads and Hori Arcade sticks, and both of them do not have any thumbsticks. The suggestion #2 and #3 is for people who use original Sega Saturn pads (they miss one button, equal to the BACK button).

Please, add this new configuration to the next release. I know a lot of people out there who use to play arcade games with arcade sticks, and 99.9% of them does not have the thumbsticks.

Thanks, Sire, for your attention on this matter!

Maybe a couple of weeks? Not sure. However you can fix the problem now.

1) Open the FinalBurnLegends.ini file
2) Change DefaultController=0 to DefaultController=1

Now the GUI is controlled by Controller 2 and you can use a Saturn controller, Dreamcast Controller, etc... for controller 1.

This post by Cospefogo is very thorough.  I agree with the 3 options he has proposed.  Perhaps even just the first two Options alone would be enough.  I'm not really sure if Black + White is a good idea for getting into the menu because some fighting games use that button combo to do certain moves, but it's up to you nes.  Options 1 and 2 would not be a problem in any way.

Take your time and release updates when you're good and ready.  This really is an incredible emulator that I'm already hooked on.   smile.gif

I checked kof2002 and it gave me an error:  Unable to load rom

and kof98 and the other error about CRC. does it have to be the same CRC?

I triple checked and they are the same...

That means the ROMs are bad. Get newer ones. RomCenter will tell you if they are bad and fix them if it can. If it can't fix it, then you'll have to find a set that will work with the latest FBA or MAME.

There is a dat provided. Run newer Mame roms through romcenter.

Cheers m8 got that but now Rom Center now creates 7 file i only want one dry.gif as only one works lol the rest say cant load rom press A to reload or something like that.

how do i just get a rom to load without multiply versions of it also what other stuff does this emulate ie. genesis but i cant get that to work.

any help would be greatfull thank you.

I think i know what happening. In Romcenter's File\Options\Romsets. I think the option you want checkmarked will be "Unmerged" Then click the "Fix" tab and checkmark stuff like "remove useless roms". I checkmark them all except "create dummy roms" as i like to know whats dodgy or not.

PS. This may produce what you want, it will allow you to build full sets for each region n stuff so you can just install the one version of a particular rom as it contains all the files needed to run. Theres probably a better way but it suits me.

OK i tried that all i want to do is play Street Fighter Alpha 3 damn lol but i cant when i fix it with the default settings for rom center but it creates 7 versions of the same rom but they are all different sizes from 22mbs (main sfa3.zip) to 2mbs (the rest) i only want one file that works so i don't have multiple versions as I'm not from Japan so no need for thoughts versions also only one region works USA (there are two second one works in the list)

It's already been asked in this thread and no one answered but I'm also suffering the same problem. I've used Romcenter to rename and update my roms and everything plays all ok bar Neo Geo games. I don't understand why this is, when I try to load them all I get is a white screen saying ROM error: Unable to load the ROM.

I've put the neogeo.zip file into the ROMS folder am I doing something wrong?

Thanks

Did RomCenter verify (mark them in green) your neogeo.zip and Neo Geo games? It doesn't matter if your Neo Geo games are correct if your BIOS (neogeo.zip) is not. Nothing will work.

Yeah. It's built from the latest FBA which came out a few weeks ago. The one the latest MAME uses will also work.

I'm still keeping FBAxxxpro at the moment because you can overclock to remove slowdown, and also select neogeo console bios.

nes6502, 1st let me say thanks.
2nd let me say my 2 fav roms on Final Burn are DoDonPachi and ESP RaDe.
in fbaxxx these game shave the option of cpu overclocking
in FBL these games suffer from slowdown...
is there anyway to speed the games up or request a per-game overclocking option.
i only speak for myself when i say i prefer a constant framerate over accurate emulation of sorts....
i dont know who else to ask, so let me thank you again nes.

i dont have issues with esp runs at 60 fps for me just fine with hardware/software filters

btw, great emu... love the cheat system

The game itself is slowing down.
The emulator (or Xbox) is not.

That's why the FPS will say 60 FPS but the game looks like it's running at 20. It's how the real game worked. Many arcade games pushed the hardware past what it could do (the game would then slowdown because the CPU couldn't keep up). All of that shows up in emulation. However, making the emulated CPU faster than it was in an actual arcade can fix some of that. It can also make a game stop working if it was depending on the CPU running at a certain speed. I'll look into adding an overclocking option.

So, after spending many hours with this fantastic emulator here are a few things I've found.

1) I'm having troubles with the Sega Genesis save states, for some reason they don't work at all.

2) The flicker filter defaults to 5 regardless of what value you initially set it as when you start a game.

3) I cannot gain access to the CPS1 dip switches, there is an option for service mode but this doesn't allow you to change anything.

Also, I was wondering if it were possible to change the dial speed for Forgotten Worlds as your character turns very slowly and there is no way to change this value from what I can see. I would love to play this game in FBL instead of MAME!

Cheers :-)

I look forward to trying this new jewel out.  I scanned thru the post and saw where smb/network support was requested but it was requested by someone that offended nes. So he never responded to that request. I would also like to request this feature as it is the most important feature to me outside of performance. It comes in handy to be able to maintain a library in one place instead of 5 different locations and it conserves much more space. This is the biggest reason I have been a coinops and xport emulator fan. Is this feature possible? And why does everyone bash smb support?

Well...

Ate least on any Mame emulator and FBA-XXX Pro, CPS1 games have the settings
page and you can change all the game configurations there, like DIFFICULTY, CONTINUE
NUMBER, FREE PLAY and other minor ones.

When I used to play CSP1 on FBA-XXX 1.28 (that has a bug on the coin button remapping)
I changed ALL my CPS1 games to free play, because my Saturn pads have no back buttons.

NES,

And for my part, I have one last humble request. Is that possible to remove the BLUE overlay
that is present on the resizing screen adjustment feature? The blue screen image really does not
help at nothing, and matter of fact it is a bit annoying. We can't see correctly the graphics of the
game under it. And of course... if you can put the numbers (screen usage and position) back
again it could be fantastic!

Thanks!

True.  In FBA-XXX Pro it was the under the Dip switch settings where we could adjust these.  This menu existed primarily for CPS1, NeoGeo, Cave, Psikyo, and Toaplan stuff.  CPS2 was the only hardware that did not have Dip switch settings due to it being possible to change all of the same settings in each game's Diagnostic/Service menu.

It's important to note that some of the Cave, Psikyo, and Toaplan games still didn't have Dip switches.  But nearly all CPS1 and Neogeo games did.

What exactly is needed to use SMB? Would I have to buy software, run Linux, buy special cables, buy a router? If the answer to any of those questions is yes, then I won't be adding it. If the answer to all those questions is no, then I might look into it. However, it would be low on my priority list.

Sorry. Still not sure what you mean. What does it mean "you can play it at full screen"? If I rotate the screen 180 degrees, then it will be upside down. And you want the controls to rotate with it? There would still be black borders on the left and right. The screen would just be upside down. Is that right?

Don't know what it would take code wise. How do you communicate from xbox to pc? What kind of operating system do you run on pc? Linux samba sharing is super compatible with windows smb. Linux usually taps into smb using samba. If you don't run by router do you use a crossover cable? It shouldn't take any more than what you are already running hardware wise I would imagine to use this type of setup. I know you have reworked a couple of xport's emulators and they all have this type of support. Do you remember seeing anything in his code that had something to do with file sharing? The mame emulators I have tried had limited file sharing support to. I dont know how closely your emulator functions compared to any of these but if it does function closely then the code to add this support might already exist and might help for it to be added easier to this emulator. I know if you do decide to take a look at it that it will be low on your priority list. I want to thank you for considering. If I can help make it easier for you if you decide to look into adding the support let me know. I can research for you or help patch it in if you direct me a little. I should have all the tools needed to help you do it and what I don't have I will find if you tell me what to get. Thanks again.

For the CPS2 games, the option to "Select Backdrop / Background Select” is available for many of the fighting games in the Cheat codes section. This is a really cool option you added nes. But some CPS2 games don't have it.

I'd like to humbly ask if it would be possible to add this to the games that do not have it.  Here’s a quick list from both sides:

Background Select option included in the Cheat codes section:

Street Fighter Alpha 2/Zero 2 and clones

Street Fighter Alpha 3/Zero 3 and clones

Night Warriors/Vampire Hunter and clones

No Background Select option:

Street Fighter Alpha/Zero and clones

Marvel Super Heroes and clones

DarkStalkers/Vampire and clones

Vampire Savior and clones

Those are just some examples.  Some Neogeo games have this option included too, but I haven't tested all the games yet. I can eventually come up with a list of just the fighting games that lack this cheat if you want me to nes.  I thank you for including this option in the first place.

Well, I'm just building the cheats from the cheat.dat file. You can replace the one in the cheats folder  with another one. Maybe there is an unofficial one with those cheats in it.  Not sure. I can't add it myself though. I wouldn't know where to begin. The cheat.dat file is just a text file. You can edit it and add other cheats if you know what the values are.

what i mean is only a few of the screenshots show up, is it because Final Burn Legends will not use the parent screenshot for a clone?

Correct. That feature may show up. The simplest solution to complete your set is:

Download a MAME screenshot pack. They are easy to find with google.
Put the screenshot.bat file and the empty FBA folder provided with FBL in the folder with all the MAME screenshots.
Double click screenshots.bat

When it's done the FBA folder will now contain all the screenshots that FBL uses. Copy them to the Artwork\Shots 1 folder

QUOTE
I downloaded all the Preview, Titles and In-Game, but i don't know how to use both at the same time since they have the same filenames...

Follow the same procedure with the titles, cabinets, etc...

However, this time copy the screenshots to the Artwork\Shots 2 folder.

Then in the GUI you use the right analog stick to cycle through all the Artwork folders. I have all the in game screenshots in Artwork\Shots 1 folder and all the cabinet screenshots in the Artwork\Shots 2 folder.

here are the "previews and titles pack":-download- preview and titles pack, if someone know better quality than these? (doubtfull)

also nes, is it possible to view a title and a screenshot at the same time? (usefull for the users with a tiny hdd)
i mean we can have preview(or title) and video at the same time;
so if there is titles in shots 1 and screenshots in shots 2, could it be possible to display the 2 if there isn't video preview for the rom?
in the new madman edition medna nes beta it works like this:
if there is screenshots and titles in the media/artworks folder the emu will display them at the same time
and it plays video if there is one, so you always have a "dual stuff" view

like you know i'm a 100% fan of the dual stuff, it allows us to see immediatly if a game is a pearl or a piece of crapp without loosing time to launch all the 500 games one by one... 'especially great for kids or for the guys without any videogames knowledge, a lot of them)

So it would display 2 previews and the video all at once? I'm not sure. Memory is pretty low as is. However, it could be useful (like showing the screenshot, arcade cabinet, and video all at once).

No problem about the absence of the screen usage and coordinate numbers.

As an SDTV user, I personally find this news disappointing.  I don't want nes to do something that he doesn't want to do, but I was under the impression that the knowledge he gained from the ZsnexBox aspect ratio coordinates system could be easily applied to FBL.

I just know for a fact that there's a bunch of us who would share and use those coordinates just as we did with ZsnexBox.  It would only be a matter of days before we'd have every game resolution documented and running pixel perfect without bilinear blurring.

With the ZsnexBox system, I thought our testing and discussions were both fun and productive, but I didn't realize nes was getting harassed about it.  I'm sure that the users who complained about the way it was implemented in ZsnexBox weren't criticizing it to get rid of it, but were likely attempting constructive criticism because they felt they could help nes improve it.  As nes explained, it's not possible due to the rendering system he uses.

If nagging was such a major issue, adding a blurb about it in the readme.txt would help filter out some of the nagging, imo.  Those who don't read it could be greeted with a cold shoulder, a bold type "READ THE BLEEPING FAQ" response, or perhaps a brief confrontation involving an unflattering screenshot and VampX.   tongue.gif

Thanks for this magnificent emulator with big e!! biggrin.gif
Honestly I need to say I don't understand how 64mb 733MHz Xbox can handle this so smooth even up to 1080i @60Hz!

Only 2 little issues which I dashed against when skinning:

1. Is there a way to display true 1280x720 px mainmenu.png (or rombrowser.png) (or both) without grid corruption? I can reduce/mask it slightly with filters, but I'm looking better solution.
Is that "camera looking at a 3D square" causing this?

2. Main Menu Icon 1-6 Adjust: Controls operates backwards when adjusting position/size.

Request: Ability to use video previews as screensaver instead of bouncing text smile.gif

I finally got to test out this baby.

I just wanted to say thanks nes!

I have only the best to report about its capabilities! The games run at a wonderful speed, I am loving all the options for filters, ini editing, etc.
I don't see why people complain about the screen resizing... It fills up my screen, and I can adjust it if I want. I don't see a problem at all.

I really love the new layout, it's extremely intuitive - and pretty as xbmc. It's a million times better than fba xxx in layout.
I didn't like the old layout/default skin so much I never used FBA. I just stuck with Kawa-X for years. It's easy, and it worked for me great.

But this emulator is better in every way, especially in compatibility and speed.

The only down side was learning to use rom center (thanks for the dat file! let me filter away the bad instantly) and I had to get newer dumps... obviously ones from Kawa-X's age are very out of date. But if that's the only bad I have to report - that's pretty freaking incredible.

I am excited to use this more, thanks nes for releasing this to the scene for us to enjoy!

the rumbles file in fbaxxx was called "rumbles.ini"; if it's impossible no problem; don't know at all how hard it should be to incorporate the zsnexbox rumbles codes search engine, as you know i'm expert with this one (i created a lot of rumbles for >100 snes games)
for the "moves list" it was cool in fbaxxx pro because you could see the moves manip of each fighter by transparency during the fight (perheaps you should try an older fbaxxx pro version to see what i mean)

Nes, the moves list is just too much of an awesome feature to pass up, it was a great addition to FBA, and being able to view moves once again in Legends would of course, be god teir...
As far the rumbles go, all i know is it used the same memory address as most health codes, similar to what youve implemented in Zsnes, i read the other thread and understand your qualms about it...im just begging we can reach sometype of 'middle ground' even though i dont know what that could be.  Simply having rumble would rock our worlds, and i dont necessarily think you need to add a cheat code 'search engine' just for the feature...lets just say we can create the rumbles on PC, itd just be great to have the option to use a rumble.ini in FBL...food for thought.

ive uploaded the most up to date moves folder, my own, as well as the 'latest' 'Rumbles.ini' from FBA here:
CODE
http://www.mediafire.com/?n5wnyqmynen

and for the actual 'cheats' section of the GUI, why do you think it could be changed to a toggle?
what im asking is...right now, you have to confirm 'enabled' or 'disabled' when selecting cheats...
is there any way to just make it toggle the cheat on press, it feels like too many clicks man,
ESPECIALLY since cheat codes dont save in Legends, i have to enable a cheat EVERY time i load a rom,
and since i like to play Street Fighter Alpha 3 w/ Dramatic Battle enable with friends religiously...its a lil cumbersome.

NES DO YOU REMEBER THIS?
"was going to say not even esprade runs as well now as it used to in FBAxxx (CoinOPS now has faster frame rate than FBL but both are surpassed by FBAxxx)...
What are you talking about? It runs at a solid 60 FPS with Filters in 1080i. That's called perfection. I can't even run 1941 in CoinOps with Filters in 480i and get 60 FPS."

look man, ive posted on that EXACT same game here before, its one of my two favorite roms in FBL next to DoDonPachi, im playing in 480i SD, and i recieve slowdown! Am i doing something wrong? is it ACTUALLY slower in SD vs HD?  what gives NES?

THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING NES PERIOD

Finally got to check this out today after many hours of running a gazzillion ROMs thru RomCenter trying to suck up everything I could.

Impressive work, really impressive!!  Although a little bare bones in places.  Good creative use of all the various elements available in the interface.

I plan on spending much more time with this gem when I'm not coding.. biggrin.gif

Hey RessX... You could probably create synopsis files for all the MD games.  I noticed that none of them had any.  It's just simplay a text file named after the game example ( g_sonic1.ini ) in one of the folders.

no,no,
i was wondering if it was possible to have dual screenshot and title shot when there isn't video preview for the game BUT there is a title shot in "shot 1" and a screenshot in the "shot 2" folder

if the game has both screenshot/title and video preview, it would display the title shot (or anything in the shot 1 folder) and the video preview (like it works now)

displaying 3 things in the same time would result in a "out of memory" i guess

Yeah your right. Completely lame. And all those game companies who made all the Xbox games to run on Xbox DVD drives had the gall to make the games in Xbox format. Completely lame. And why didn't the Xbox come with all these arcade games on the system when it was sold? Also completely lame.

What's lame is that you are too lazy to convert your ROMs and want me to do all the work for you.

If he is using the xmvplayer that comes with the XBSDK it buffers the movie so the only impact size would have is the actual "resolution" of the video which obviously is gonna take space for whatever texture it happens to be mapped too.

As far as testing games goes the GUI is not affected by the game.  The game runs in a separate core and the only thing from the GUI that gets loaded is the Option PNG. That's why I said it needs to be 640x480 no matter what. Otherwise you'll find that it will not load for games that use VM in HD. I don't want the emulation to suffer because the Option PNG is in HD. A 1280x720 Option screen uses 1280 * 720 * (4 bytes per pixel) =  3.6 MB of RAM verses 1.2 MB of RAM for a 640x480 image. That is an extra 2.4 MB of RAM. That difference will determine if a game works at all or works well in HD.

I ran into the same problem someone posted about with the genesis games crashing the rom list. Since this system is emulated elsewhere on xbox is there any genesis games that will only play on FBL?

As far as the remainder of games this system emulates does anyone know which games are exclusive to FBL and don't have the ability to run on the xbox in any other emulator?

One file for every game though.... ouch.   That would take a lot of time.

Maybe somebody would like to help out with a little direction...?

I don't know which ones are crashing yet only that it stop crashing when I removed them. I still am chasing down roms. I think I have 92 left in the red and 2 in the yellow. I have been working solid on it for close to a week. And hope to complete the romset soon. I only know it crashes because I tested it out when I had around 150 left in the red to make sure it was working right. If the problem isn't located by the time I complete the romset I will find the answer. I have over 600 sega roms to sort threw to know which one or ones is causing the problem.

No. However Pac-Man and Ms Pac-Man are the only two games that do that (I think). FBA renders them different than the other games. Most games are close by default. There shouldn't be a whole lot of resizing needed.

QUOTE

Not that I know of. Download a MAME screenshot pack.
Put the screenshot.bat file and the empty FBA folder provided with FBL in the folder with all the MAME screenshots.
Double click screenshots.bat
When it's done the FBA folder will now contain all the screenshots that FBL uses. Copy them to the Artwork\Shots 1 folder

QUOTE
I am, however, kinda curious what criteria was used to select the titles. I ran romcenter thru two sets of No-intro and a much older Goodset that I have laying around on CD.

The Genesis games were chosen as follows: First there was the ones included with FBA. I didn't choose those. I assume they were the favorite ones of the FBA developers. I then added support for around 200 of my personal favorites. I can add support for any game anyone wants (not 32X or SegaCD though). Just request it.

I am going to make the Main Menu background video paths a part of the Skin ini. That way a user could make a 720p skin and include 1280x720 background videos to use for that skin if they want.

Possible but not likely. Supporting multiple screenshots and the video previews would really slow down ROM browsing. It's already slower than I want it.

Well that was my next request. Thank you.
Although i was going to suggest the emulator checks the current (in use) skin directory first
then if no background.xmv was found then it would use the default emulator videos.
This way the skinner doesnt have to be savvy with video creation and can make use of the
default ones provided.

If you look close, you'll see that the scanlines are actually wrong. They are vertical instead of horizontal. Not sure you could correct this even with a numeric display. I might try to fix that, but it would be a good deal of work.

You are picking "Test" from the Arcade Settings menu? If so, you may need to pick two or three times. Sometimes it doesn't register. I think I've fixed that for the next release.

Ok great got that sorted out anyway. OK I have 2129 games recognised from Mame 0.135. But there are still 6097 games unrecognised in this pack with the FBL dat. Can I use romcenter or something else to put all these working roms into a separate folder so that I can just upload what I need. I could probably go through them manually but this would take me ages to do.

I don't know if that is possible. What I did was make a copy of the MAME set. Let RomCenter verify all the roms and then in RomCenter I had it delete unknowns. Then I had only the FBL roms left. There's bound to be a better way though.

I know its vertical but it doesnt look "even". like some lines are "blacker" than other. this can be manually fixed by streatching a screen a little. but I dunno how you can fix this for all vertical games by default. I dont even think its actually possible but then again scanlines for horizontal games look perfect. might wanna look into it.

Is there any way to adjust the analog stick 'deadzone' settings?

I would like it to be able to adjust it to be smaller for certain games so that the controls are more responsive. At the moment it feels like I have to move the joystick a long way before i get any movement. Same goes for moving diagonally, I have to really move the joystick all the way to the corner before it changes direction.

An option to increase or decrease the deadzone value for the analog sticks would be great, and fairly easy to implement =)

I'm thinking of just changing it in the code and recompiling my own .xbe for now. Could you please tell me in which source file the deadzone value is defined?

Great emulator by the way! Seems much faster to load and smoother for most games that I have tried which were a bit slow on CoinOPS  smile.gif Fantastic job nes, thank you for all your hard work!

nba jam plays perfect on this emu.(mamex-b6.)
nba jam te(tounament edition)plays perfect.(mamex-b6).
nba jam hangtime plays good on mameox0.72 dosent load on b6 crashes.
you can also use mamex-b6 for narc,mk1and2 as these games play slower or have no sound on later versions of mameox.
also for mameox0.72 mk3,ukm3,nba jam hangtime and primal rage at full speed.
mameox0.72-plays 2 on 2 Open Ice Challenge pretty good you get sound and you get slight framskip but very playable.
get a hold of the mortal kombat pack which has mk1-3 emulated perfectly as they were ripped from the midway arcade tresure games.
get a hold of the rampage world tour, narc and primal rage pack as these are emulated perfectly as they were ripped from the midway arcade tresure games.(actually alot more is playable via these from midway games)
by the way mk4 can be emulated in surreall64xxx
pcsxbox and download mortal kombat trilogy.in my opinion you dont need mk1-3 after you have this
**************

that is cut and paste from old forums it says more but all have been fixed in CoinOPS now, all above games play on CoinOPS reignite but with sound disabled at full speed...these are very close to running with sound on later builds but occasionally lower in frame rate so sound is disabled by default to give 60 frames a sec..this can be turned off in settings
All CPS3 games have been plable for ages

***************
CPX3 is a Capcom Play System 3 emulator for Xbox1.
including street fighter 3 third strike

Just for a heads up I see alot of incorrect info these days IMO I dont want to ague about this stuff...its just to say here is some info you may want to look into..... you can check these out for yourself or PM I can help you out with alot of those games and whats best as they run perfectly pretty much...this is the wrong forum and only to do with a correction to an incorrect comment. If you post a thread about these games I will talk about this stuff if not this thread for FBL. Take care all

No, you are still wrong.

The post was about arcade emulators running those game full speed. Full speed means this:

No frame skipping required
No lost frames the entire time
Graphics, sound, and input emulated.

It was not about what games are playable. It was not about games that kinda run ok or games that run well enough that most people like it. It was  about games that emulate full speed. It was about arcade emulation not console ports or official Xbox game emulation-simulations (like MK1 - 3)

It also didn't imply sound would need to be disabled. If that was the criteria then I could add support for any game anyone wants and say it runs full speed. I'll just say the graphics, sound, and controllers are disabled, but, it runs full speed (just check out that FPS counter!)

I don't mean to get in the middle of a petty argument, but would anyone mind answering my above question?

I really want to use this emulator but at the moment the analog stick sensitivity is just too low, making playing it less enjoyable.

Is there any possibility of adding an option for adjusting this setting?

The reason I didn't answer your question was because I don't have the source in front of me to tell you what to change. Not because I was in a "petty" argument.

those games run pretty much perfectly on those emulators........they run alot better than other stuff alot better that people say is now playable graphics speed and sound wise (say even power drift they are emulated better than sega y at present)....they clock a solid 60frames a sec continous the mame team hasnt updated the graphics at all and using the same roms.

I say im not going to ague anyones free to check this stuff out for yourself

nothing has been changed really in them apart from a sound hack was removed everything else has remained unaltered...when the sound hack was removed the frames dropped and the sound is lower

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to insult the importance of this debate.

I merely wanted to get an idea of whether or not you are going to add this feature, as I feel that it is very important to the functionality of the emulator.

I understand exactly what you define full speed as, nes6502.  Please don't lower the standard you've set for FBL.  Please don't go that route.  The sound runs in all games that have sound emulation (Dogyuun's sound files aren't decrypted by Mame yet) which means 99.9% of the games have run with full sound and there is no stuttering or skipping in the audio like in other apps.  There is barely any reliance on frameskip or lost frames to keep games running at all.

Nearly all of the games in FBL run at the criteria you defined here.  We don't want to see it turned it into an inconsistent mess.  It's the FBL standard or no standard for some of us.  How well the games run should be the top priority overall.  Some people have a high standard for this, and some don't.  Please keep your high standard nes.  It's a huge part of what makes FBL so great.

Many thanks again for the marvelous emulator you developed.   smile.gif

do you know how many games dont run correctly in FBL but are still there.....this was about midway I know of alot of games that simple play alot worse on FBL than any mame released...I think its good they stay as they are kind of playable. Your dreaming to think FBL games on the whole play better than mame. This is not anything about fbl or mame and more about midway not being emulated on the xbox or cps3 which clearly it is as I play them regularly and have done for years

they run alot better for alot of the core games it runs but for alot of others it clearly runs very poorly(I dont want to list games but there are alot really and why get into it as it is clear and obvious when you compair them and apparently its to do with FBL core so thats as far as it goes). this was only about midway games running playable as.........please guys do some tests these notes are from a very trusted source and its soooo easy to just look and see.  Dogyuun's sound files dont work in mame at present use FBL for this as its far better............I tested it and I agree as its obvious as.....

Im out all I say is the advice that midways games are unplayable is terrible advice...check it out yourselves if you see im all rubbish then say it, but I know what you will see....full speed exact emulation with full sound...no comprises on nearly all of them. If people can ague this well they obviously havent looked at all for themselves or listened to any help given to them for years and years

Dear Britneyspairs

Why is it that no matter what forum I see your name you always have to whinge and moan like britney spears herself...

Why should it matter to you what somebody else is doing with their emulator when you have done your own very seperate project. This seems like the most fruitless argument to be having. A bit like my dad's stronger than your dad..he can pick up a tree and do kick ups with his left big toe...

I think you have a serious ego problem...maybe you should try getting a girlfriend or something. (Your Jenna Jameson DVD boxset don't count). On second thoughts, maybe you should scrap the girlfriend idea cos if you whine and moan like that in general then most females would likely give you a wide berth or a hearty slap.

As good as Showcase is it's not the best. It's part of a bigger picture. All these emulators compliment one another and work together. None of them are perfect.

And for the record. Perfect emulation is not playing a game with the sound off.....it is playing the game as intended. End of story. Anything less than the coders of the game intended it to be played is not perfect by definition.

If this was my forum i'd mute you....you're a dickhead!

Have a nice day!

Kind Regards

Contradict

On to the topic, did you move the main menu video to the skin ?
I have a prototype for a video for the main menu. Its just one video though that will
show no matter what option is highlighted but i dont want it to start from the begining
everytime a different option is highlighted ( do you know what i mean ? ).
Once the user is presented with the main menu i want my video to play through from start to finish, then loop, undisturbed. Regardless of the option highlighted.
Your thoughts !

I second that what cba have in mind.
Btw, does that mean you're probably working new skin with fullscreen video background?? (you should  laugh.gif )

Yikes... Look what I started.

Midway & cps3 questions answered. Thx

rom folder directory question?

Forgot to mention this, I really like the simple interface.

Britneyspairs... If you update reignite, more folder directories for Roms.

Thank you... Back to watching my 2yr old boy.

Well im toying with the idea of the whole GUI as an interactive video.
Similar i suppose to how laser disc works.

Good luck for your "project" cba.

Request for nes6502: L/R trigger to scroll fast up/down the settings/in-game menu similar to rombrowser.

(If it takes more than 1 minute to add, just forget it..)

Yeah that would be good, I wanted to suggest that aswell. Also what about an option to see the arcade games flyers on the rombrowser? Some of the artwork is fantastic for these games and would compliment the games nicely like the history data does.

Thanks

Found a bug:

Game - Marvel VS Capcom and clones: mvsc.zip, etc.

Issue - Strider Hiryu's ending causes the emulator to crash.

Details - After KOing Onslaught with Strider Hiryu, the Final Burn Legends screensaver comes up and stays there until you press a button. Then a message appears that reads "Final Burn alpha crashed. This rom or cheat code is not supported. Press A to exit"

I have no cheats enabled for the game and I have not altered mvsc's cheats in the dat. Tried this several times to confirm.

My settings are:
720P
Hardware filter - Bilinear
Software filter - Simple2X
Flicker and Soften filters off

Sound
Low pass = off
Sample interpolation = Linear
FM interpolation = Enabled

I have found a pack for mame title screens, it seems to cover most if not all games. Originally from pleasuredome as the readme sez.

5,952 title screens. Not bad really smile.gif

Google this: "mame titles 0.134 torrent" if you did it right you will get the page as the first hit, top of the list!

just a heads-ups for this file when you find it. if your using AVG turn OFF resident shield first then proceed.

i learned the hard way...

Once you have all the screenshots, drop then in your FBL artwork folder.

IMPORTANT: Put the first 4088 screenshots in the "artwork/shots 1" folder and the rest in "artwork/shots 2" as the xbox has a max files in folder of 4089 files (there is already a file in each folder y'see.)

Now if you want dual pane titles and videos you need to get your hands on a decent video pack. I used the one from coinops showcase and dropped that into the video folder in FBL. However there is only 830-odd videos so only a few will show with videos (dual pane) but hey thats better than nowt.

If anyone knows where to get a massive mame video pack hit us up! Asked resx if he knew of any but unfortunately he is leaving mame till last sad.gif

Hey guys. I found a full video preview pack for MAME 135 on a newsgroup. It's 16 gigs though, and all are in avi. I'm prolly gonna get it. However we are going to need a batch file converter similar to nes's tool he included in Zsnexbox to bulk change avi to wmvv8, then convert them to xmv. Is there a program that can do this efficiently? Like an avi to wmv specific codec converter?

Also it seems all the file names are the same so they should match up with the roms, but i have to double check this when i get a chance...
