Title: Xbox Emulator Screen Configurations "keep Pushing The Button"
Post by: Triptothane on July 06, 2009, 12:45:00 PM
"www.kppshngthbttn.com"
The site has been dead since February but I downloaded a PDF version of the settings before it dissapeared.

This is a PDF file that goes over most of the available xbox emulators. It tells you how to adjust emulator screen settings for a pixel perfect reproduction of your old school favorites.

I don't take any real credit for this other than putting it back online again.
Enjoy!

Cospefogo has opened my eyes on this (and now it is ALWAYS very important to me to play with the correct pixel ratio, to fully enjoy all the details and the original work of the artists)
But i have discussed some weeks ago with cos' and i said him he has made some mistakes:
he uses 640*448 width for the nes ((320*224)*2)) with the 10*11 npixel ratio
WICH is faulse, it isn't the best setting.
For the best original picture for all your emus:
DON'T use the 10*11 pixel ratio!! And now even cospefogo is agree with me!
(see our discussion here: http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=686573)
the best settings for nes, genesis, pc engine are in this pic (and don't use any software or hardware filter!, flicker filter must be set to "0"!) to fully enjoy all our belloved pixels!
Here are the ultimate and final pixels ratio settings for all our xbox emus
the only exception is neo geo fbaxxx some games like view point are (608*452) but for some games like blazing star, it is (640*452)

This works pretty well with winuaex. :>
It's 16:9...my bad, but sometimes I don't want to waste the extra screenspace.

With the help of this great screen aspect compilation - tutorial I found my prefered values for Winuaex in 1080i video resolution.
They are brutaly :> scaled to fit the whole screen - so circles will not be round, but I can live with that because the aspect ratio is scaled proportionally, and finding the correct 4:3 values should not be hard. Important thing is that there are no jagged edges or other scaling artefacts.

For most Games it's:

2497x1404

Games using a higher resolution with overscan tricks or something or just in full pal/ntsc mode require:

2270x1248

(Battle Isle is one of those)

screen position in X/Y could differ between tvs, mine were  X:-320  Y:-20
All kudos go to Cospefogo for his research in proper scaling. I just did the calc.exe thing. :>
